Is anyone here capable of cutting these damned things without cutting them too short?

I can not remember the last time I cut my finger nails where I didn't snip at least 2 or 3 of them too short. Hardly enough to ruin my day, but man it can be annoying at times when you really screw up and cut it really short.

Anyone share in my pain?

Oh babe you should try childbirth---ouch

Ok the 1st thing you need to do is get some sharp scissors---hold them above the said nail, then lower them towards the top of the nail---and then, this is the hard bit babe, carefully cut across the white bit at the top but without goin near the pink bit.

OMG with this technical expertise this gal should be a rocket scientist!!

use a Dremel, dude!

You can file them down, and remain a manly man, because it's a power tool!
Careful of the RPM's though. You might burn them off instead!

Oh oh, I just realized that I have to cut my finger nails. And chissler dont worry, you are not alone. I am having the same problem too, I cut my nails too short sometimes, even when using the humble nail cutter.

NOT just for the garage-any more.

While you're at it, get yourself a good sander and some fine grit paper, and buff em up real good. Slap on some varnish so theys all nice and shiny, and watch them there gals all oohh and ahh over how purty ya'll look.

That's how ya git R done!

Fantastic.

They have a router attachment that should be able to stop the thing before it gets down to knuckles.

Dremel....ooh ooh ahhaahha. Ok done. I need a tourniquet.

I've been chewing my fingernails off for so long, that I don't even get those anymore.

Ugh I always do the same. And it hurts like hell. Ill usually cut them a little and file the rest down to try and avoid that situation.

I'm floored that this thread got more than a response or two.

I cut them yesterday and as I was typing another post it was irking me on the few fingers I cut way too short. Apparently others do feel my pain.

Last month I bought a new car that was a standard. NEVER driven a standard in my life. Bought it, hopped in and away I went. After a few days of a sore back and a sore stomach from stressing out in bigger intersections, it became second nature. So if I can learn to drive that on my own, surely this one can be overcome.

Here's to those of us that are always in a hurry and don't give the fingernails the attention they deserve.

I havent cut my nails to the quick in quite a while although it does happen from time to time. I hate it when I do because it becomes so sore!

Chissler

I do a capital "C" in your name only because my pinky fingernail is longer and hits caps lock all the time...

Well to behonest you will now often get a capital "C" as you confessed your hate for it yesterday, and well, that gives us something to annoy you about, bit like a thread on your fingernails...annoying...eeek.

Dudes need to keep those babies short and trim, even if you do as AD suggested with legs crossed, secretary style filing.

Now that is an idea! That concept SINGS with me!! Now I gotta get me a Dremel set. I overdo things at times. (chuckle) I wonder, get one with a collection of bits? Or ask someone at ACE hardware for advice? Maybe one of the ladies working there might be able to be able to clue me in? If I remember right there is a grinding bit that vaguely cone shaped that might work well for that.

Personally I hate that "Tingly" feeling that you get after you cut them.

(looks at his own nails and curses his finances that won't let him try it.)

(Looks at the Dremel site) Perhaps the oscillating model would be fun.
