Apologies in advance for the rather morbid sounding title, however a quote posted by a member - karl 12 in this thread actually aroused my interest in the subject :

"We have stacks of reports about flying saucers. We take them seriously when you consider we have lost many men and planes trying to intercept them".
General Benjamin Chidlaw,
Air Defense Command.

I couldn't find another thread dedicated to the subject, my hope is to keep this as a reference to any cases where someone died as a result of an encounter, direct or otherwise.

Doing some initial digging about I found only a couple of cases so far, but I'm interested in the "many men and planes" the General was talking about.

ufologie.net... - Captain Thomas Mantell, at first explained he was chasing Venus, then finally a weather balloon, both of which seem silly to me, especially considering the following quote from the article :

Richard T. Miller, who was in the Operations Room of Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois also made several profound statements regarding the crash. He was monitoring the radio talk between Mantell and Godman tower, and heard this statement very clearly. "My God, I see people in this thing!" Miller added that on the morning after the crash, at a briefing, investigators had stated that Mantell died "pursuing an intelligently controlled unidentified flying object." In conclusion, Miller made this statement, "that evening, Air Technical Intelligence Center officers from Wright-Patterson AFB arrived and ordered all personnel to turn over any materials relating to the crash. "Then, after we had turned it over to them, they said they had already completed the investigation." "I was no longer a skeptic. I had been up to that time. Now I wondered why the Government had gone to all of the trouble of covering it up, to keep it away from the press and the public."

www.ufoinfo.com... - Frederick Valentich, the reason for the disappearance of the aircraft has not been determined :

Valentich reported in this transmission that "a large aircraft" appeared below him, then apparently passed over his aircraft. He felt it was an "unknown aircraft" particularly because of its apparent speed. It approached him from the east and seemed to be "playing some sort of game", "flying over me two three times at speeds I could not identify". Frederick Valentich emphasised, "It's not an aircraft ... it's flying past, it's a long shape." Then he described, "it seems like its stationary. What I'm doing right now is orbiting and the thing is just orbiting on top of me also it's got a green light and sort of metallic (like) it's all shiny (on) the outside." One minute later Valentich said the object was approaching his aircraft from the Southwest. Then the Cessna's engine started rough idling. Frederick Valentich's last transmission was, "...that strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again. It is hovering and it's not an aircraft." 17 seconds of open microphone followed with metallic like sounds hear, perhaps like the rapid keying of the plane's microphone, and then silence. An intensive air, sea and land search followed over the next 4 days. No trace of pilot or plane was ever found.

www.telegraph.co.uk... - Captain William Schaffner, this one has been recently "explained" (after almost 40 years), as a tragic accident. From the article :

The RAF accident report showed the crash occurred when Captain Schaffner accidentally flew into the sea while on an exercise to practise shadowing low-flying targets at night.

Officials decided that while carrying out the difficult task of fixing on his target, the captain failed to monitor how low his own aircraft was and "inadvertently" flew it into the water.

The original anonymous report quoted from the article :

The Grimsby Evening Telegraph published a transcript of what, according to an anonymous source, was the final conversation between radar control at Staxton Wold and the pilot, who reportedly described seeing the shape, followed by something "like a large soccer ball ... made of glass".

"It's like bobbing up and down and going from side to side slowly," he was quoted as saying, before ditching his aircraft.

Searches failed to find any trace of his Lightning plane until the wreckage was discovered weeks later, with no sign of its pilot

Not sure what to make of that one, but decided it fits here since it's a 40 year old case that has a rather weak (imo) "official" explanation.

Hopefully more people can contribute to this subject, it need not only be about pilots, but I would prefer we stay away from the "ufologist has stroke 30 years after writing an article on greys, the MIB finally got to him!" sort of thing.

Good thread soloist,I know the above cases you mention fairly well and they have popped up here before

That is interesting,we have lost many men and their planes!

Would be realy hard to trace them as it must be so easy for them to hide anything like this from the public

The only way I could think of researching this is to drag up all the files of dead pilots and see if there is a link in the time frame and location with ufo sightings-of course that would take ages, and be no proof

I havnt heard of any other pilots dying, hopefully some people here will shed more light on this subject and provide a link for any other cases that have slipped the net

I just wanted to point out being a long time resident of southern Illinois before I moved here that Scott AFB is not located in Belleville, it is located in Ofallon....

Captain William Schaffner seems to have been debunked and the reported conversation is a fake tape... However, if you can find it anywhere and i'd love to read it again myself. There was investigation done by and ex English cop who claimed that. The official crash investigators were given just 30 minutes to examine the reclaimed wreckage of his plane and that all the key dials and instruments had been removed. Furthermore they were surrounded by and shepherded by non uniformed personnel of an un-determined service.

From memory the guy who did the investigation was called Bruce Barrymore...

I have a feeling it might well be just a moonshine story and it was *just an accident* but if Barrymore was right about the crash investigation it would suggest that the recent statement by the RAF was, lacking in proper detail, if not, outright disnformation...

one other case still unsolved was the death of Sigmund Adamski in Todmorden Yorkshire England...

The first is true.
Just heard about the second.
The third was solved.

UFO related deaths:
Tesla, the inventor would have sued for the Foo/Phoo rights,
you know he would. Just like the radio had 15 of his patents,
the saucer also contains his patented devices of flat coil and
high current X-Ray bulb, with one connection removed and
no glass at all. In Tesla's words: the second terminal was removed
in order to put more voltage on the one remaining terminal.
Killed by the Illuminati.

So that was the UFOs number one death.

Number two Patton who saw saucer parts in Germany similar to
Bill Lyne's 1943 saucer compass perhaps shown in 'UFO Hunters"
TV show. Patton was told to destroy the parts before Russia saw
them. Intel had the drawings and didn't need the parts. Perhaps
the Illuminati didn't like his take on things.

Number three was Forestall as the UFO saucer was at home
out west and he did not go along with alien cover of Tesla
inventions being promoted by the Illuminati.

Those are perhaps the big three without a collision.
How many houses have been demolished.
And what about the pilots and actors inside the saucers that crash.
We never hear about them.

Or shots taken at UFOs.
Guess the lies of the government are spooking some people.
However the control over momentum perhaps leaves the UFO
invulnerable to other forces of nature and man.

10 People Who Died After Seeing A UFO

There have been countless claims of UFO sightings and abductions over the years, some more credible than others. Most people survive their alleged otherworldly experiences largely unharmed. Sometimes, though, they seem to have gotten a little too close for their own good . . . with deadly consequences. This week, we’re checking out the bright lights and getting a little closer to stories of death by UFO.

There is the Zigmund Adamski Murder Mystery. as mentioned by Firemoon.

This may or may not be related to a UFO. But it was promoted as such in the local tabloids.

Zigmund Adamski was a Polish immigrant and reported missing on June 6th 1980. Adamski's dead body was found on top of a pile of coal near railway tracks on June 11th in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, England. This was some 30 miles from his home. Adamski's body was found without a shirt but wearing pants and shoes. Odd burns were found on the back of the head, neck and upper shoulders. Not only that the time of his death was placed at between 11:15 AM and 1:15 PM on June 11th (the day he was found). How did Adamski's body come to be on top of a pile of coal in broad daylight? The coal pile was visible from a local train line. The owner of the coal yard had locked up at 11:00 am and reported seeing nothing unusual.

courtesy BBC

The policeman who found the body was PC Alan Godfrey. He was to have his own UFO encounter in November of 1980 around a mile from where he discovered Adamski's body. The name 'Adamski' is also linked to George Adamski, the famous 'contactee'. It seems from those tenuous links a tabloid UFO murder mystery was created.

In 2005 John Hanson (a retired police office) and George Sankey tried to investigate what is still an unresolved case. When they requested relevant files via FOI they were refused the Coroner's reports and told this would not be possible as they were not adjudged to be 'interested parties'.

The full details of this bizarre case are in the thread linked above.

Sorry but the way you write is a bit of a word salad. What do you mean about 'Forrestall'?

If you mean James Forrestal, the first US ‘Secretary of Defense’ then he died in mysterious circumstances. In 1949 he was hospitalised in Bethesda Naval Hospital suffering from depression and paranoia. He was found dead having allegedly tried to commit suicide jumping out of a window in the hospital.

Great work on that thread MM and have always been convinced that PC Godfrey did encounter something incredibly strange that evening five months later in Todmorden (UFO also corroborated by other separately located policemen) - also interesting that he was made to re-sign the offical secrets act with an added statement telling him not to talk about the Adamski case or his own sighting ever again.

British diplomat Gordon Creighton also brings up the subject of UFO related deaths in this interview and there's a relevant piece below from Jacques Vallee's book "Confrontations" about the 1977 Colares case.

It is in the islands around Belém, where the waters of the Tarantins and the Amazon majestically come to meet the ocean one degree south of the equator, that the 1977 Brazilian wave culminated; and it is there that for the first time the proof of the reality of the phenomenon was obtained. More specifically, as Daniel Rebisso has revealed, the culmination took place over a three-month period from July to September 1977 on the island of Colares and on the beach of Baia do Sol, on the island of Mosqueiro. (Ref. Rebisso Giese, OVNI no Para)

We found fishermen there who had witnessed the objects, and a doctor who had ministered to the medical needs of dozens of people hit by the light from the chupa. She confirmed that one of her patients died after the experience. Several of these witnesses also told us that they had observed two teams of Brazilian military filming the objects, attempting contact.

Ground truth: there was no denying the wave of 1977. It started in June near Cape Gurupi, north of the town of Vizeu, and it moved in both directions along the coast: toward São Luís to the east and toward Belém to the west during June and July; it reached a peak in September and October.

The reason the phenomenon could not be denied was very simple: every evening the UFOs appeared, coming from the north. In some cases, they flew down from the sky, in others, they emerged out of the ocean. I saw a photograph of an object with a luminous white ring flying right out of the brackish water at dusk.

They came over the islands at low altitude and circled; they descended as if to land; they made loops and accelerated suddenly; they hovered over houses and probed the inside with beams. They even emerged out of larger objects and reentered them. And this happened on schedule, every evening for three months.

UFO incident from Crixas, Brazil 13th August, 1967 - witnesses hit by a ray of green light emitted from the object and died 59 days later.

IÑACIO AND MARIA DE SOUZA

At the moment Inácio shot, the being dropped to the ground. Immediately after that, the UFO fired a beam of green light striking him on his left shoulder. Inácio immediately lost consciousness.

From posted video - more on Arcesio Bermudez, the Columbian man 'killed by a UFO'

Colombia: Arcesio Bermúdez, The Man Killed by a UFO

Arcesio Bermudez was a 54-year-old Colombian who apparently succumbed to the powers of the mysterious UFOs, creatures whose existence is unknown, but who are nonetheless real, according to experts.

Ufologist William Chavez claims that the event took place on the evening of July 4, 1969 in the town of Anolaima, municipality of Cundinamarca, when Arcesio's family climbed a hill to do some star gazing, and managed to see a small light that increased its size substantially.

"Mister Arcesio went out to see what was going on. He stared at it and decided to point his flashlight at the unknown entity at that moment," says the specialist.

Chavez claims that the peasant received a magnetic blast, causing him to feel sick hours later, developing signs of hypothermia shortly after. He was sent to a clinic in Bogotá.

After being hospitalized for several days, experiencing intense fever, the Colombian died under circumstances that medical experts could not explain..

Apparently his body also went missing.

The group of APRO investigators seemed to think that Bermudez had died from a massive dose of gamma rays, and requested that the hapless man's cadaver be exhumed - something the family refused to do. Years later, when the remains were about to be transferred, the Bermúdez family discovered to their horror that the body had been spirited away by unknown hands.

Incredible cases Karl 12. A real treasure having your threads (replies with further added cases etc.) here for study.

Many of these burn and injury cases are ones that I have never read before and they are indeed quite shocking.

I'm saddened when I read ones where witnesses have shot at and hit visitors. I understand the fear thing and what it does to people, but I just know that I wouldn't do that. I had a cousin who was a door gunner in Vietnam, and they fired on a disk and it shot them down, although they all survived. One of the generals stopped the order to shoot them down after that, maybe not that case, but soon after. (From what I have read before).

I read somewhere in the past that there were a lot of aircraft shot down in retaliation by different visitors, but can't remember if it was in a book or an article.

Thanks for posting and I always watch your reply video links, great refresher courses.

I recall reading of an alleged case where 2 fighter jets were investigating a UFO, in contact with ground radar, when the lead jet approached it and then exploded, witnessed by the radar operator as 2 contacts merging and with the pilot of the other jet in voice contact having seen it happen.

From what I recall it was either from the Mediterranean area or Middle East but I cannot now find any reference to it - hopefully jogs some other memories and a source can be referenced.

Yes some truly freaky reports out there mate (particularly from the South American continent) and really would recommend Bob Pratt's 'UFO Danger Zone' if you've not read it already.

Some other 'UFO burn' incidents here and in one case a boy was affected so bad that his nose was not visible, his hair was burnt off and his ears were turned inside out resembling 'ground beef'.

Cheers.

you cant forget about the men in south America who had lead 'glasses' and a towel and took pills of an unknown concoction

and had instructions to have no metal on than other than the lead eye coverings and that they were going to get on a UFO

but were found dead and missing a large amount of money but otherwise undisturbed

people said they say strange lights on the hill and that's how they found the dead men.

also the human mute in south America as well as the ufos in Corrales where the US and the local government started Operation plato(saucer in English)

and they got pictures and movies and there were close encounters with small creatures/grays and the craft killed a few people with is so called 'sucking light' beams

2 people died there

the commander 'killed himself' right when he was going to go public, he had one of these creates speak to him at night in his room

the question are these deaths related to secret testing or genuine UFO's?

Richard D Hall did UFO's and NATO a video about crash retrvials and the horrors they found in the down ufos's

hairless dead and gutted humans as well as human parts.

i still believe that there is a VERY dark part of the whole ufo field that hardly anyone touches on as it would shatter alot of peoples ideas of so called 'space brothers'.

if they are ufo related maybe these are some people who fought for their life and lost it, like Travis Walton not every one can be put under complete control.

maybe they put us down like a violent animal in these cases

Fair enough mate and do have my doubts about some incidents being UFO related but very disturbing events nonetheless.

oh yeah i have viewed his interview a few times

he is the police office who caw the thing in the road and some odd foot damage that split his shoe, or am i thinking of another?

the few cases like the cash landrum(sp?) where the 2 woman died of radiation poisonings is another that makes you wonder.

there seems to be a short list of deaths in this category(ufo's) but than i am reminded of all the people that go missing, no trace ever to be found again.

I have always believed from personal experience for whatever that's worth that at least PART of the genuine UFO/high strangeness events are causing more damage and deaths than we know.

in the US alone 10's of 1000's of people just *POOF* vanish and yes some want to start a new life or are run a ways but there are WAY to many people missing every year to chalk it up to run a ways, old people getting lost or whatever.

when you get into the nitty gritty of the UFO subject, Dr. Karla Turner(RIP) was on the same page as me thinking SOME of these events are terminal experimentation by US hands and at the hands of the US government via MILABS

When i was in the AF i was a paramedic and got attached to allot of units outside the AF as a medic and forward air controller and i was party to a few kill or capture missions and we would use things that I'm sure are still classified that would lets say let us walk over the people and zip tie them at will.

i saw drugs like ketamine and midazolam used for interrogations and i KNOW contractors went full gloves off as one of these men we were with said the 'profit' told him to be honest and he told us everything he knew about everything, they used the same 'technique' in GITMO so who knows what that is.

but i think part of the secrecy revolves around this issues of some bad players among us that might looks at us like a recourse or just a lower life form.

Imagine the POTUS coming on TV and saying 'Yes they are real and heere and some of them abduct who they want when they want, and oh by the way they eat you.'

people would lose their minds

me included

I KNOW these things exist, UFO's that are in no way human and i know that there are creatures or off warders here as i saw one in my back yard and got a crappy pic of it.

when i was in Africa at night i would watch the sky with my NV as that is always something that calms me as i know my mom is looking at the same stars(just a different time). And we would regularly see military 'drones' that moved ... strangely .. granted this was before i had any idea of quad or hexapod drones but still

and than there were other things that were clearly not US or anyone else's on earth

strange times indeed
