Reporter dragged away before president departs...and no, it is not from 2004

Today, before President Obama departed from California, a woman with white house press credentials was forcibly removed from the staging area. A reporter for a small Georgia newspaper was on hand for the presidents departure and wanted to give him a letter. This is what it was about....

Lee said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that she wanted to hand Obama a letter urging him "to take a stand for traditional marriage." She said she asked a Secret Service agent to give the president her letter, but he refused and referred her to a White House staffer. Lee said she refused to give the staffer the letter.

Now, in a time of change, a time of transparency and in a time of " I want to talk to the common man", why are we seeing this. I find this to be very hypocritical especially with the current administrations wanting to blame all of the countries problems on others however they are acting worse than those they chose to blame.

Why was she removed? Could she not have been asked to stand somewhere else? Now, granted, she could have given the letter to the staffer, but why not use this as a photo op? Even though I did not vote for the current adminstration, I at least hoped that we would not lose any more of our natural born freedom but it looks like it is eroding faster than the weeks after 9/11.

What is your take on the handling of this reporter?

"I said, 'I'll take my chances if (the president) comes by here,'" said Lee, who identified herself as a Roman Catholic priestess who lives in Anaheim, Calif. "He became annoyed that I wouldn't give him the letter."

Lee, who was wearing what she described as a cassock, said she protested when she was asked to leave.

"I said, 'Why are you bothering me?' They escorted me outside the gate," she said.

She said security officers allowed her to return when she promised she would not yell or wave, but then other officers arrived and told her to leave.

"I said, 'I'm not leaving,'" she said. "They tried to drag me out."

Two officers then picked her up and carried her out. An Associated Press photographer photographed the incident.

I'll bet she wasn't as "nice" as she's trying to seem....

You see, what we are seeing is not the same but worse. This is not the first time that reporters have been blocked or removed. we are only 4 months in....where is the transparency?

I want it both ways. You see, as a central/right thinker, I have been bombarded for 8 years with how bad it was and how we were on the road to the NWO. No, we were preventing it. Our current president is as close to the Manchurian Candidate as you can get.

No access to our president as promised but he airs dirty laundry of a previous administration. This is caused deflection and he is the king. Look over there at Perez Hilton and we can use this as a platform to kill a bill in California, but you would never hear him say that or imply it. they just used CNN.

The age of stronger government control is coming and we as Americans need to stop it. the economy is still falling after promises of help, change and redemption. There was hope with Bush and now there is only what was promised.....Change.

No one should be allowed to hand the POTUS an envelope.

God only knows what some nut could put in it.

I do not think she should have been able to hand an envelope to the president, but could they not have just moved her back a bit? My first thought also was powder or something else but it was the removal that got me. Guess this administration as a whole is really starting to grind on me. Transparency is not here.

I also would think...hope...that the USSS would have known exactly who she was also.

Good Lord! I am shocked by some of the responses to this thread. It's amazing how fast liberals turn war hawk fascist when someone disrespects Obama. If this were reversed, all of you saying that she was a 'troublemaker' would be screaming to high Valhalla that Mr. Bush's SS acted insanely!

Horsefeathers. This is a violation of her 1st Amendment by usurper numero dos! Numero Uno was GW.

From what it sounds like, she wanted to give Obama a letter, the SS asked if they could have the letter to pass off to him. (Anything that goes into POTUS' hands prob needs to be screened first). When she declined it probably raised red flags in their minds. Hell, if I was SS it would.

Sounds like they asked her to do something, when she declined she was removed. Simple.

Word of advice, when the leader of the free worlds personal security asks you to do something. Do it.

Stop nitpicking and thank those guys who sacrifice their lives to keep our president safe.
