Iraq to arrest 1,000 'corrupt' officials

news.bbc.co.uk

Iraq's anti-corruption watchdog says arrest warrants have been issued for some 1,000 allegedly corrupt officials.

Few details were disclosed, but the Commission on Public Integrity said at least 50 were senior figures.

The commission has previously said the most serious complaints concern the trade ministry, where officials allegedly took bribes for contracts.

Good for Iraq it seems.

Took bribes for contracts? Will these arrests lead to further arrests or information as to who these contractors were. although most of us already may have quite a few ideas as to who has benefited from all this.

Will these cases build up more evidence to have Bush, his cronies and blackwater pressed with charges too?

Is this a genuine, positive move by Iraq or is it a showcase to help 'democracy' take a hold?

The whole Middle East should do this ... heck the U.S. should do this. Oh wait never mind, too big of expectations considering greed runs this and almost every other country.

Pretty amazing they arrived that there were exactly 1,000 corrupt officials, not 999 or 1,001 but a nice round impressive number like a 1,000. Doesn't sound like a round up or BS at all.
