What Is Safe City?

Safe City is a community based initiative that unites businesses, residents, city officials, and law enforcement through a project intended to maximize safety and minimize theft and other crimes in our community.
By uniting businesses, residents, city officials, and law enforcement in a plan to reduce crime, communities will become a safer place to live, work and shop. Corporate partnerships are more important than ever and far greater resources are needed to address the magnitude of the threats we now face.
Safe City leverages partnerships and technical solutions to help reduce crime and create an environment where people feel safe and secure. Through your commitment and effort, your business can implement a Safe City project.

Safe City: 27 cameras will monitor crime in Federal Way's downtown core

Officers access the cameras via a secured password from inside their work vehicles. They can manipulate the cameras — zooming and panning to get a closer look at a specific location. Approximately 10 police volunteers also have access to the cameras. They periodically spend time scanning the live video feed and monitoring the downtown core from inside the police station. Criminal activity, suspect information and crime details caught on tape are provided to officers responding to the scene.

Big Brother is now watching everyone everywhere at all times.

I believe this will snowball until there is a camera on every telephone pole, streetlight, traffic signal and eventually your living room.

How about a public camera with link to monitor Judges chambers, police stations, and the Governors mansion?

Maybe a headcam for all elected and appointed government officials.
If we are using cameras to catch crime, let's catch the real crimes behind the scenes.

Corrupt government and maybe a few cameras in Publicly traded firm CEO offices.

Then real crime will be viewed. Like Mexico arresting 10 Mayors and police chiefs, etc...

The cameras should be used to insure public servants do not abuse power and citizens.

What is Safe CIty?

More like " Who watches the Watchers?"

CCTV has been here in the UK for years and too be honest it will NEVER stop a crime from happening, all the Crims do is pull their hoods over their faces , and then by the time someone has seen the camera screen and notified the Policy Farce the Crims have got away.

The other thing scary about this situation is that these cameras will be manned by VOLUNTEERS, not even police officers. On NPR, the county prosecuter said that these cameras are the way of the future and that we will have to accept them...
