BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Ten U.S. soldiers were killed in attacks around Baghdad on Thursday, eight of them in a car bomb explosion just south of the capital.
The deaths took to 534 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in action since U.S.-led forces invaded Iraq 13 months ago. About 125 of them have been killed in April, the bloodiest month for U.S. forces in Iraq since the invasion.

The car bomb went off just south of Baghdad near Mahmudia at about 11:30 a.m., the U.S. military said in a statement.

"Initial reports indicate that eight U.S. soldiers were killed and four were wounded," it said.

We need more troops there, what I don't understand is why after something like this happens we don't have our people there quickly. Also, how come the reporters always seem to be there to film these things???

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Eight U.S. troops died in a car bombing Thursday and two others were killed in separate incidents in Iraq, according to the U.S. military.

The car bombing in Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad, also wounded four troops, a military spokesman told CNN.

Hours earlier in eastern Baghdad, a rocket-propelled grenade attack killed a U.S. soldier from the 1st Cavalry, according to the coalition.

An attack in Ba'qubah, north of Baghdad, killed another U.S. soldier, U.S. military officials said.

With the deaths, 737 U.S. troops have been killed in the Iraq war -- 534 from hostile fire, 203 in non-hostile incidents, according to U.S. military figures.

Looks like we need more negotiations with the insurgents in Iraq.

Sad news Ocelot, indeed, but in my view expected. With the pull out from Fallujah now set I believe this will only add to the acts of terrorsm... in the view of the insurgents they are winning... and terrorism does work... I am sure they believe they can now drive us out of Iraq all together through continued attacks like this. who knows where this war will take us next... Perhaps we should sit down now for negotiations with Al-Qaeda as well?

When will this insanity win, you cannot expect peace with these people, and you sure as hell cannot take 2 steps farward in this war then one step back and expect to win.

My thoughts are with the brave young men and women trapped by the insanity of this war in Iraq now... Can you imagine what this is like for them?

BAGHDAD, Iraq Ten U.S. soldiers were killed Thursday in Iraq eight of them in a car bomb explosion south of Baghdad.

The two others were killed by a convoy attack in Baghdad and roadside bomb in Baqoubah, north of the capital. The deaths raises to 126 the number of U.S. service members killed in combat in April, the bloodiest month for U.S. forces in Iraq

Meanwhile, initial reports of an agreement to pull U.S. forces out of Fallujah proved to be inaccurate.

A senior military source told Fox News that the Marines were packing up their gear in the southern industrial zone of the city as part of a simple repositioning of troops not a pullout from the city. This repositioning may include adding some Iraqi forces into the mix.

nothing surprizing to be honest!

I'm sure they are loading full trucks of dead US soldiers, but no one says anything about it!

just like in Russia, in a war against Chechens, they were loading trucks full of dead soldiers everyday! but on the news they'd says, 2 -5 soldiers killed!

I wouldn't be surprised if the body count was much higher than what's being reported.

Iraqi Resistance Thwarts US Attack, 30 Killed
Apr 28, 2004

The Iraqi Resistance crushed a powerful American attack mounted against al-Jawlan neighborhood, according to Mafkarat al-Islams correspondent in the besieged city. The American assault began after sunrise on Monday and finally met its end as evening set in, the correspondent and eyewitness wrote in a report posted at 00:02 on the morning of Tuesday, 27 April 2004.

The Iraqi Resistance drove the US Marine invaders into a pincer, as it is called, within al-Jawlan. Then the Resistance violently attacked the rear lines of the American forces cutting the advanced forces off from the rest of the attacking force. As a result more than two-thirds of the entire force of Americans were cut off, and many of them were wiped out on the battlefield. The remainder were able to flee into neighboring houses, but the people informed the Resistance fighters about their presence and they were able to hit them there. As a result, the total number of Americans killed exceeded 30.

US Marine invaders attempted to break the ring around their offensive force but the fierce battle that ensued blocked any rescue. The first attack resulted in the destruction of one tank and the killing of all aboard, in addition to the destruction of two vehicles and the death of most of those aboard them when they came under Resistance gunfire.

The second attack cost the American side even graver losses. Three tanks were destroyed with rocket-propelled grenades, killing all aboard the vehicles. In addition an armored vehicle and four Humvees were destroyed, killing most of those inside.

US Delay Entering Fallujah

As of this morning, the US has decided to postpone its deadline to enter the city. While they stated movtives are to allow "rebels" more time to turn over their heavy weaponsm it is absolutely clear that this condition will not be met regarelss of the time frame. in relaity, events on the ground indicate that the decision not to enter the city today as orginally schduled comes because of fears of high American casualties should the Marines move in.

Joint patrols that were also scheduled to begin today have also been delayed indefintely.

At press time, sporatic fighting continues in Fallujah.

This is better than Goebels radio. So insurgents destroyed 4 Abrams with RPGs?
Are some dealers selling crack on Iraq streets already?

Please, three tanks. Remember, these are the same people that were saying "THE AMERICANS ARN'T HERE!" while we could clearly see our M1A1 tanks in the backround

YOu can never win when you are fighting against religious fanatics. The more you kill the more martyres you creat. I knew this war was unwinable when I looked at Shia in Iran.

During the Iran Iraq war the clercs sent tens of thousands of these youths to their deaths in human wave assaults on Iraqie positions. They were armed with only plastic keys to the kingdom of heaven.

This means to win you would have to kill every single one of them ....to the last man.You can't win that kind of war.I will never understand why they went in on the first place

Bull#. There are too many bureaucratic procedures (insurance) etc. after the soldiers death. The govt can cover some spec ops or CIA casualties (they are not officialy there) but I don't think it would function with the "regular" soldiers.
