I think the video is legit, since the shuttle can transmit split screen and both scenes seem to show the same events in progress, the RMS detaching
from the OBSS.
As for the dot, it seems to move slowly in one direction at a constant rate. Something on the celestial sphere -- the moon, or indeed Venus -- strikes
me as a reasonable 'first candidate'.
Astronauts have spotted Venus and from time to time first thought it was a nearby satellite, on occasion, since about, oh, 1966 or so.
No swamp gas, though.
