I had originally begun writing this in response to the "Open the Camps -
Obama Is Said to Consider Preventive Detention Plan" thread, but decided
instead to use it as my "virgin" original post, (not wanting to take over
the thread, but still being very curious about what the responses would
be.)

So here goes, my first post, it's a public poll.

A Habeas Corpus Challenge

Ask anyone this question

Do you know what Habeas Corpus is? or
What is Habeas Corpus? etc.

If they don't know the answer (a writ ordering a prisoner to be brought before
a judge) you have the opportunity to plant a seed of awareness in their head.

If they do know the answer then you can sigh with relief and have hope for
another day.

In either case record your responses in a "3 out of six, or a 1/10 got it right"
format, then, (this is important) remember the funniest responses and
report them back, along with the results, and maybe we can get a fairly
decent gauge on how bad things actually are with the knowledge of
the GP.

The reason I post this, is because I believe the denial of Habeas Corpus
as put forth in the (un)Patriot Act constitutes the greatest threat OF ALL
to those of us who stay informed and keep a watchful eye out for any
wrongdoing, from ANY ~evil-doer~ be he domestic or foreign.
i.e., the members here at ATS.

*whew...that wasn't so hard after all

SOMEBODY listened to AJ this afternoon... hehe. Good job! ANY mention of not commonly known founding principles and Constitutional rights is a great way to start a conversation. My favorite is Posse Commitatus, but I'm a vet, so that hits close to home for me.

Just remember the adage that you can lead a horse to water, but can't force it to drink it. Don't try to force the truth down somebody's throat... You'll be suprised how easy it is to visually see when somebody "wakes up". It happened to me while watching "The Obama Deception" with a friend that was not yet aware. I could see the disbelief, then anger in his eyes as he watched silently. After the movie, we talked for a long time about the way the world actually IS, MSM notwithstanding.

If you let someone form their own conclusions, the results are astounding.

Keep the faith...

Thx for being my first respondent.

And I didn't listen to AJ today--the idea sprung forth
while reading the thread I mentioned earlier (now I'm
curious about the program).

I'm also kicking myself for not adding Posse Commitatus
as a question in the post. That's a great idea, and the
responses may even be funnier (and perhaps racier)

...as to Posse Commitatus; The denial of Habeas Corpus is written into law
(with restrictions in the Patriot Act).

So far, and knock on wood, I haven't seen any HR#### proposals
of legislation before Congress that will allow the government to
bypass the Constitution and turn its weapons ~inward~.

Don't look for HR's... Look for Executive Orders... Just giving you a hint so you find them for yourself (hopefully in disgust and disbelief). If you get stumped, send a U2U.

Happy (tongue in cheek) hunting, they're out there.

You are right, they are out there, and I did some research and found them.
"John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122), plus an
executive order by Bush. Yikes!

Let's hope our military boys take their required oath literally (to defend the
Constitution against enemies, both foreign and domestic). And I mean
literally *fingers crossed--gun locked and loaded*
