Car sales are so slow that some dealers are now offering $50 to anyone who test drives a car. The deal, at the moment, applies only in a very limited area.

..."the $50 offer with no purchase necessary shows that the companies are going to great lengths to attract buyers while auto sales are near the lowest level in more than a quarter-century."

Is this pathetic or what?

Auto companies have been doing this for years...offering some kind of money with a test drive. This isn't anything new

Strange,

over here you have to apply for a test drive and turn up for the appointment...
Its very rarely the case you go ahead with a test drive right away...

The other thing is that ussualy they do not have all the models awailable for a test drive. Especialy sinve the crisis struck...

You lucky drivers !

Reminds me of "Timeshare" sales tactics....."hey, come to our 15min sales presentation and we'll give you $100 + show tickets"

Doesn't desperation stink??

Well....If they can sell some cars then at least it will have been worth it.

Whats tragic though, is that it isn't the lack of people WANTING to purchase their product...rather, its the lack of financing available even after bailout after bailout of the banks!
