I was just sitting here thinking about the new bill HR2159 ( www.abovetopsecret.com... ), Katrina and all of the happenings that could possibly be our downfall. When it struck me that maybe the first line of denfense may be the criminals of today.

I remember reading during Katrina that it was the street gangs that organized to rescue stranded victims long before the government even got there.

Or do you maybe think that the gangs will be first on the list for 'taking out'? I'm not sure given the choice who I would put my trust in, the Gov or the gangs. What do you guys think? Or am I waaaay off base?

You may be on to something, but I doubt the govt will see it that way.

Gangs are generally protective, in their own twisted way, of their neighborhoods and people. I can't tell you the times I have seen these guys run people out of neighborhoods that have done things to the people there. Of course mind you, they stand on the corner and do their business and wreck the neighborhood, but they do not allow others to do so.

I have seen these guys do some amazing things, parties for kids, neighborhood cookouts, helping old ladies with groceries, all the things you would never, ever think a hard guy with a gun would do.

As in all things there are two sides to every story! I do know these young men would look out for their own and those in the neighborhoods. It is sort of a sick loyalty thing going on, you let us make out money and run your hood, we offer you a loose protection. Good to see you thinking outside the box.

I completely and totally agree with you on this.

I will also add that our law enforcements officers and DOC officers struggle to contain these gangs because they are ingrained within our neighborhoods and jail/prison systems. I think people gravitate to gangs for many reasons, family and security being the top IMHO.

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply. TBH.. this would be the very definition of .. "the lesser of the evils, is still evil" and a choice I wouldnt want to have to make.

What is the federal government and congress if not a legal gang? What is the definition of a "gang".

From Wiki: A gang is a group of people who, through the organization, formation, and establishment of an assemblage, share a common identity. In current usage it typically denotes a criminal organization or else a criminal affiliation. In early usage, the word gang referred to a group of workmen. In the United Kingdom the word is still often used in this sense, but it later underwent pejoration. The word gang often carries a negative connotation; however, within a gang which defines itself in opposition to mainstream norms, members may adopt the phrase as a statement of identity or defiance.

The term gangster (or mobster) refers to a criminal who is a member of a crime organization, such as a gang. The terms are widely used in reference to members of gangs associated with American prohibition and the American offshoot of the Italian Mafia, such as the Chicago Outfit or the Five Families. The related word "mobster" is a term derived from Latin and Aramaic. The word mobi means large gathering in Aramaic, and similarly, mob in Latin means crowd.

Gang is from the past participle of Old English gan "to go". It is cognate with Old Norse gangr "a group of men", and it is in this sense that the word is used today, rather than the older meaning.[1]

So, my gang (or affiliated group) of gardeners who refuse pesticides and bioengineered Monsanto seeds and hybrid monstrosities will be criminals if Codex Alimentarius is passed into law on 12-21-09.

People who join "gangs" often have excellent reasons for doing so. The loyalty and respect of a gang, for the gang, is many times stronger than the loyalty to the government which seeks to regulate and oppress the free-will of The People.

The government has recognized that urban males from impoverished environments would be the number one threat in the event of an attempt toward a governmental restructuring..... Former combat veterans were the second on the list. I read about this in a book that has disappeared from my bookshelf about the impending N.W.O..... It was in a copy of one of the government documents printed in the book, that was printed in the early 1990s.

I read the same thing too, Dax - but in my view this isn't a comment on the legitimacy of street gangs so much as on the inadequacy of your then government's response.

I've recently moved out of an area of the UK that is riddled with street crime. I did so cheifly because I felt threatened by the existence of the gangs and their weapons. They terrorise and they invoke fear because they reflect not structured society but chaotic society.

The generalisations from redhead about gangs protecting their own are straight out of an emotional gangland B movie and have little connection with reality as I have experienced it. Gangs where I am from terrorise each other and everyone around them, they introduce drugs and weapons to their neighbourhoods, which they routinely steal from and threaten with violence. They are a pain in the ass and their motivation is greed, ignorance and thuggery.

Don't confuse solidarity in hardship with the gangland mentality. Gangs are symptoms of the hardship just as drugs and crime are. They aren't the way out of hardship, they are a significant element of the problems created by hardship. The way out is to emancipate and enlighten the people, not let them run riot.

Thank you all for replying. Its an interesting thought that the people we run/move from now could be the first line of defense for 'we the people'. I believe that if/when (I honestly think they already have but not in so many words) it is decreed that 'we the people' are criminals against the state, in desperation and for a short time the well armed street gangs may become 'we the malitia'.

Gangs (I am speaking of street gangs here) are the big X factor.

Its a sobering thought.

I can't believe what i'm reading in these posts.
Gangs are made up of the scum of society, they are all dumb worthless criminals, the worst type of people.
All this talk of riding in to rescue the common law abiding person is a joke.
Criminal gangs will rob, rape and kill anyone if law and order fail.
These people have never offered anything to society, so what would change if sitx were to happen?

You may be right.

Yes I agree that the street gangs are violent and malicious people. But as I said...

I remember reading during Katrina that it was the street gangs that organized to rescue stranded victims long before the government even got there.

I am sorry if my train of thought has offended you, this post was a "what are the possibilities IF we were declared public enemy #1". Its pure conjecture. Nothing more.

No probs Op, i just don't like to see the worst types of people given any praise or honour.
To go back to katrina, it was gangs that commited rapes and robberies in the football stadium and believe me if we have a lawless society coming, it will be more like the film "mad max" than fallout 3 were the criminals are better equiped to deal with it all because they have no morality.

I know that a lot of the biker gangs are like the military they have their officers, they follow a chain of commands, and they also hold Tribunals, they also have access to high caliber weapons,so yes if push came to shove one day that decision may have to be made IMO
