Here is my first poem, feel free to post yours here!

The air we breathe is tainted
the water unfit to drink
my neighbor lost his job today
and mine is on the brink

Swine flu is the latest scare
many people are sick
the news doesn't care anymore
they're looking at a celebs lipstick

The enconomy is in the toilet
gas is on the rise
a weeks worth of groceries
no one can afford to buy

Iconic businesses closing their doors
the unemployment numbers are high
I wonder if the time isn't right
to kiss my ass goodbye!

When I look into my childrens eyes I see the light of a future bright.

So I work hard in ways only a Mother understands to assure them safety against the coming days.

They dare to ride the wild horses without a rein, I know that they will make it and the world will change, I prepare them from first the heart and the rest I trust will be alright.

Ah dumb, but the most important thing is my family and I do believe in them.

Thank you for contributing!! That was lovely!

Here is more:

I walked into the yard today
to enjoy the warm sunshine
only to notice it hindered
by white criss crossing lines

I went back in remote in hand
I then turned on the news
storms earthquakes fires
wars... the newcaster spewed

stock market up stock market down
its a roller coaster ride
many have lost their savings
their homes and now their pride

I don't know what the answer is
I have pondered it many a night
I only hope and pray
its not to late to make things right!

In the center of the circle
A void,
an empty figure
containing all that's
multiplied.
Each lyric a repetition,
a world
of ignorance and sleep.

Hear it, hear it?
The silent thunder,
The cry of innocents,
The wail of mothers,
Are you singing the Blues?
I'll give you something
to sing about.
The worship of War
and Pain
the blind, the used
youth draped in Flags.

Remember that Christmas eve ...that special one of them all.

When you sat before the tree lights , mother and father sister smiled at you and God was in sight.

Smell the ginger wine , smell the love ,you were asked to forever remember

But you got older and sorry it all became colder.

You are a human being, all born soldiers

God cannot always hold you.

But remember that night, that blessed sight.

Pass it on to if you can.... everyone.

Hate is a gun that aims to thrill

Love is a friend to make us still.

One day my Mother, my Father ,my sister and I will be one once again

Just like that night where love froze the world... until.

Here is one I will contribute:

As twilight seeps, fate befalls,
Brittle bones in empty stalls
Oh reap the day, as night crawls near
The future tails a pain severe

How torn am I as if a rope
Between the thoughts of fear and hope
What will be as time rolls by?
Will I live or will I die?

I look into the surrounding skies,
such warming beauty abounds my eyes.

The clouds are soft like fluffy white pillows,
the atmosphere is a deep blue beyond the willows.

The long green grass beneath my feet,
feels soft and soothing, and smells so sweet.

As I wander along this life of plenty,
I wonder why others can't see this wonderous bounty.

Its here for one and all to enjoy,
if only they knew that life and love can be their toy.

You have it all to contribute through words, thanks for the thread we all like musos can learn from (but no not imitate) the greats, remeber to seek that which is true, learn by being always honest, which I think you already know.

Dream me
Healthy and vibrant
Before the sun died

Nurture me as I did you
You breathe and drink from me
And then you give me to dust

Desecration of the land
Pollution seizing life anew
Seedlings rot among the muck

A new day shall never glow upon you
The ocean dies, choking on filth
the residue of humanity

You know not what you've done

Crying to heaven, do they weep for us?
We deserve no tears...only our own
Society of greed, insensitivity, ignorance
The people want lies! Deceit served on platinum platters
We've becomed disgraced, disenchanted, disloyal
Even to ourselves. We bury truth...Destroy our world
And those who plead for change....
False promises and empty assurances
From mannequin faces with doll eyes
Race of uncaring, oblivious statues. Deny, Deny, Deny!
Doomed, becoming ultimate destruction
Privileged endlessly gain. Poverty drains dry reservoir
We, the middle, forgotten, muted voice
Care and compassion, fed to the beast
Who wants to hear a bleak reality? No penchant of truth
As our planet dies, disease rampant
Life falls away to closed eyes and ears
Harboring secrets of our demise
Plastic people calculate vigilantly
Weaving the weakest of webs
Watching conformists tangle in hope
We who watch and learn, as always, go unheard
