It's a bit funny...to not see one thread in regards to weight lifting here..

I'm 20 in college and also a Naval Reservists ...so I have to stay fit. I typically go the boards @ 4chan /fit/ section for T-Nation for information regarding weight lifting but I've never have bothered to come here till now. But what a shocker...why are their hardly if any threads regarding weight lifting?

Now before someone says you don't need to be lifting weights in order to be "healthy," but wouldn't you want to be healthy and also "look" healthy/good as well? Now...I'm curious as to how many members actually lift weights....and by weights I mean Dead Lifts, Squats, Military Presses, not just a 5lb dumbbell from Wal-Mart.

Heck ya! There's a couple of threads on fitness, you just gotta look for 'em.

T-Nation, FTW! John Berardi, Alwyn Cosgrove and Robert Dos Remedios. FTW!

Oh, and I'm a Personal Trainer too.

I lift weights, although in my early high school I did it with friends.

Then I joined powerlifting, the school org. God did I learn what lifting weights really felt like, it was all fun, until I got home, went to sleep, woke up, and thought I was dying!

I'm sure there are quite a few people on ATS there are avid gym goers too eh.

Weights are heavy!

Why would anyone want to lift stuff when they don't have to?

my best workout? lifting 92lb bags of concrete all day.

Do that for a while, or do like my dad did and cut wood for a living.

you will get in shape quick.

I lift for purely aesthetic reasons, not for application.

Greetings,

I have been training with resistence training for years and keep in pretty good shape. After all it is one of the requirements of being a sith, got to keep in shape to beat up on jedi

I typically stick with the main lifts:

Squats
Deadlifts
Overhead presses, alternating with clean and presses
Bench presses
Barbell Curls
Dips
Pull Ups
Hanging Leg lifts

I also do work to improve my grip strength as well. The routine above is my most common with olympic weights, but I do like to throw sandbags into the mix and odd shape objects. Keeps it interesting. Doing all this with lightsaber and martial art practice, it can keep me in pretty good shape.
