Vision of a Tortured Land

In the arms of Morpheus,
A vision of a tortured land.
Were guards surround the fortress,
While blood far spilled upon the sand.

When dusk suppresses daylight,
The cries of children fade away,
With mothers’, widows' torment,
Hide until the next cruel day

Undaunted soldiers warring,
Arenas once they called their land,
Enduring to subsist,
Slaying on the palace's demand,

A long-term fight for freedom,
Each side it's own crusade,
Goals were never forgotten,
Only once, extended, delayed.

As I read this I had images in my head of the current situation in Sri Lanka with their civil war finally ending after of course more bloodshed. Thank you for sharing, you've successfully described many war torn countries.
