Police disperse gay pride parade

www.russiatoday.com

The latest attempt to hold a gay rights march in Moscow was over before it began. Police broke up a crowd preparing to protest, arresting at least 24 activists, including the event’s organizers.

Reddit The activists had gathered in front of Moscow State University in the south-west of the city. As they began chanting slogans such as: “Equal rights, no compromise!” “We want the right for same-sex marriage!” and “We want a law against discrimination!” – Omon riot police moved in and made the arrests.
In just a few minutes the police had detained the entire group, including o

The article doesn't say why the Moscow City Hall didn't give the gay folks the permitt to vent their grievances. According to Czech TV news, the Moscow mayor decreed that homosexuality is a devil-inspired condition. That's the "capitalist" alternative to the explanation that homosexuality violates the principles of Marxism-Leninism expected from the comrades who used to run communist Moscow. If the pope ever travels to Moscow, his visit to the City Hall surely turns joyful and smiley.

Now I wonder where this post is heading to.
Skunk Works, I guess.

The same sex; the same names. Irina and Irina. That's what probably freaks out the officials. No one knows who is who.

By just reading the Thread Title... i could be under the impression
that there was police intervention of Gays here in the USA.

one might suggest that you could be supporting the Globalist viewpoint
that all news is local....
but what is distinct about the police confrontation with that segmet of society... is that it was done in Russia

which not but a generation ago was under the authoritarian heel of the Soviets who would not tolerate open Gay-ness, homosexuality...

those marchers would have been sent to a 're-education camp' up
in Siberia.

I honestly think that 'Russian' should be appended to a modified thread Title...
so that suckered dupes like myself, wouldn't be seeking news that the permissive Obama administration is somehow entangled in a supression of Gays here in America.

thanks,

It was all about "Eurovision" song contest - which has turn to be highlight in Gay culture every year - where ever this song contest goes - gay issue will rise up. International support for Russian gays came from that organizations supporters...

Creece - another orthodox country send their most gay symbol to the contest...

Mother Russia has not been friend for gays, national orthodox church has lots of influence in modern Russias values, and if we want to look for reasons to this hostile attitude, we should turn our heads to religion, not to politicians.

Religions are again many steps behind over all development and progress.

I saw this yesterday on Euronews, and in their news piece they had that quote from the Moscow mayor considering gay parades as "satanic", and an Orthodox Christian youth group said that it was "soul terrorism".

St Udio, the title should be the same as in the original, and the world is not just the US.

MOSCOW, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Orthodox Church is commemorating St. George's day on Wednesday with church services devoted to the saint being held around the country.
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia led a festive procession with crosses and icons near a church named in honor of the saint in western Moscow, with Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov attending.

Yury's friends would be very upset if he looked the other way.

Politics, you know . . .
