More Americans "Pro-Life" Than "Pro-Choice" for First Time

A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42% "pro-choice." This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.

Not something the MSM has publicized much today!

Initially this may look like great news for the pro-life advocates, indeed I would be happy to so acknowledge this news. It's to be hoped, by myself and others, that the barbarity of abortion is acknowledged as the caveat which best allows us to question calling the modern world civilised.

However, digging into the poll it may be that rather than being fully "Pro-life" the "exceptional circumstances" examples constantly employed by pro-choice advocates have made abortion such an acceptable aspect of modern society that people are considering them not always as "abortions" but as standard therapeutic treatments for physiological or psychological reasons.

There is nevertheless something heartening in this poll for pro-life advocates but a need to continue examining how attitudes towards the phenomenon are formed by the debate.

"Rape" and "health" are constantly cited by pro-choice advocates, despite the reality that they represent a very small proportion of the terminations carried out. If life is to be protected then it is to be protected always and neither the circumstances, race, gender or orientation of the zygote/embryo/fetus/child should be a cause for differentiation.
