Proposal would require all to have health coverage

House Democrats are crafting a plan that would require all Americans to carry health insurance and would help families making less than $88,000 pay the premiums. Employers, too, would have to help foot the bill.

Well here is the first step to socialized health care. First make it required, then once the vast majority become dependant on the "help" the government is providing, they are in control. They are already trying to dictate what we eat, just see the related thread on taxing fattening foods. I want my freedom back!

There were hints of this 'plan' existing long before anyone started campaigning. The net effect will be to virtually criminalize being poor, or not having the resources to afford health insurance.

We're being told we, in effect, that we have no choice. I guess those religions which believe in faith healing exclusively won't have their religious rights overridden..., or will they?

All this does is guarantee income for hospitals. Isn't it nice that corporations have taken over everything?

Please don't be so nervous about socialized health. After all a healthy nation will always be productive. Go on internet and ask the citizen of countries such as UK, Germany India etc. especially the one who are aware of the system in USA and ask them questions how they feel. Bill Clinton as president tightened the rules for welfare. He took it away to balance the budget by shifting all that money and also created surplus. Ever since big corporations getting fatter and fatter with all of that money but you don't see it. Lets abolish the taxes altogether. No more taxes on property and you woudn't see homeless people.
Bring competition to utilities and you wouldn't see high utility bills. What you think the medications. Allow pharmacies to prescribe medicine for common cold and allow individual to import it from countries like India, china, Europe. I tell you what, we wouldn't be paying more than $ 10/00 for any medicine. Don't tell me that the quality of medicine from those countries are bad. You just don't know Mafia is robbing us day light blind. Behind the secene, there is always schemes brewing up how to rob you. On one side they give you food full of chemicals to sicken you and on the other side they raise prices for health care to rob you. Go live in countries where leadership care about citizen and learn. Don't take me wrong. USA is full of heroes. It is just that we lost faith on our heroes because whoever came to power for some reason or another they went back on their promises.

I just think its sad that the vast majority of households will now become dependent, if not more dependant on government welfare. Thats 83% of America!!! Let me say that again, 83% of America will receive a form of welfare under this plan, and will subsuquently be more dependant.

that's $88,000 for a family of four, what about a family of one, or two, with no children?
I can live without healthcare, have done so for much of my time on this planet, I can't live without food, or shelter, or heat...I can't earn money without car, or gas.....

as far as them "helping" those who under the level they deem to consider being able to afford the coverage, ummm.....so how are they gonna do that, give you a tax deduction at the end of the year? we just got word about the insurance plan at work for this year, same crappy plan, more money...one lady at work, well, between her and her kid, it's gonna cost her close to half her paycheck, tell ya what, she wouldn't be able to survive a year on the other half!!

I don't put much faith in bringing the costs down, I put less faith in their ability to determine who can and who can't afford it, and well, I can't afford the healthcare even with my insurance! so, all I see them doing is using freezing winters, hunger, ect, to make a bunch of people sick, so they then can send them into the bankruptcy court when they try to use their insurance and get treatment for the sickness this stupid idea will cause!!

no thanks, no plan is gonna work unless it brings the real cost of the care down!!!

Socialized medical is not the horror your MSM has brainwashed you into believing. If any of you ever left your god forsaken country and visited Canada, England or France, a quick chat with local AVERAGE citizens would quickly reveal that fact.

Besides, even if you idiots are in that small percentage that can actually afford health care, under socialized medical if you have money you can pay for faster treatment/surgery or whatever.

How any of you can defend your medical system when HALF OF ALL BANKRUPTCY'S IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ARE DUE TO HEALTH CARE COSTS

You ignorant people cant see past your nose, and those people who have their lives shattered by mounting medical bills are desperate. They have nothing to lose and it can spawn foreclosures, crime, drug abuse, school drop outs etc.

Those people, the people that get face *snip* by your government are the people breaking into your car at night, or your house while your at work. It's becoming more and more apparent that this site does nothing in denying ignorance, it's ripe with it. Quit letting the mainstream media tell you what is right for you, do some research and maybe leave your hell hole of a country for once and visit a country that has a "socialized" medical system.

The whole problem is that the government is doing it. We don't like government here in America. It may not be as all bad as we think it could be but when was the last time our government ran anything successfully? I don't trust our congressman our politicians and I wouldn't trust them with my healthcare.

I would think by your response that your Mensa IQ would allow you to wrap your brain around the idea that almost every welfare program that the government runs is in shambles! I'm paying into a retirement system that will be bankrupt before I even retire! DO you really want the government to control your health? Are you OK with them taxing fattening foods also? If thats the case then I suggest you take a long hard look at who is the ignorant one here.

I think you are off the mark on two points. One I will presume to impose upon you, the other I beg you consider.

1 - It is unproductive to criticize the person to whom your addressing in such a manner.

2 - Actually, there is a very real problem with your statement...

The problem is that our government has in almost every case abdicated it's mandate to manage these programs, instead allowing a private banking cartel to run them. Hence, chaos.

We MUST remove the excessive profitability of government service. Our political 'tools' can't handle temptation, it appears they never could.

it's a hybred, just like we've had for some time now, part socialism, part capitalism....
the profits in the healthcare and insurance agencies will still be king, they will just have a hostage market forced by the government to pay whatever price they desire, and since well, capitalism, and the profits it brings will always be king, well....
it just ain't gonna work!! socialism would be better, pure capitalism would be better, what we have here is a giant money funnel growing bigger and bigger, with a government always willing to take more and more from the citizens to subsidize the growth, weather needed or not!

Where are you from? Do you have first hand expierence on what it is like to be an American, or are you mad that our country is far better then yours? Even though we have had the bottom of the barrel of presidents in the last 20 years, I'm sure its a better place then where you are. I just want the same kind of health coverage that my congressmen and Representatives enjoy at the expense of MY taxdollars. Is that to much to ask?

There are plenty of countries that afford their citizens healthcare. I would much rather my taxdollars go for healthcare than waging war on countries that never threatened the US and the accompanying war profiteers like Halliburton that got rich on my tax dollars.

How about my tax dollars being spent for oil subsidies when the oil companies show record profits. Corporate socialism?? Bailouts?

I see nothing wrong with my taxdollars going to MY benefit, like good roads, fair educational system, USDA, cleanwater or healthcare.

I pay my health insurance premiums and they deny my claims.

there's a long list of things that the laws....and our society has deemed unwanted, and well, you are not free to persue them, not unless you are willing to pay the price for crossing society, or your government...
fact is, unless you are living in isolation on an island, with no other person who you are dependant of for companionship, for those necessities of life, whatever.....
you are chosing to give up your freedom!

there are alot of people who are left out in the cold when it comes to healthcare. if they decide that pot actually helps them deal with their untreated illnesses, well, are they "free" to medicate themselves with hit?
heck no, but still, many of those that are avoiding the doctor, since well, the bills will overburden them, well, they are also paying into the system that is feeding the funnel, helping to grow and get bigger....
more and more, the people are forced to give up their freedom to chose how they desire to live their lives, for the sake of a sick child! should they stay with the father of their child, even though the income he makes, although exceeding the amount the government determines would qualify them as "needy", and the income just isn't enough, or should they separate, and well, become needy, so the child doesn't suffer from the lack of the healthcare!!
should the aids patient continue working, even though he can in no way pay for his medine...or should he claim disability, although he is perfectly able at least now to work?

I am sorry, but freedom???
