I recommend you wait until you pass before letting her know how much of a disappointment to the species she has made herself. You can shame her publically so long as you the truth when you do. Dig up some dirt and spread it around for all to see.

McCarthy was great eh? Screw a difference of opinion when we can 'dig up some dirt and spread it around.' Why not u2u the OP and get the teacher's details? You could send her some hate mail and really get into the spirit of character assassination. A guy you don't know makes a comment about someone neither of you know and you conclude she's a 'disappointment to the species.'

Teachers are just normal folk that draw there own conclusions and are entitled to vote. They can follow any religion and listen to any music they like. They can post on ATS and express any opinion they like if it's appropriate.

So what you are saying is....

Because your teacher has a different political view point than you, you come running to ATS all scared and shocked.

Please get a grip.

Marxism isn't a joke it has been the cause of millions of death. If anything you need to stop falling for left wing propaganda.

You probably worship the image of Czar Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

Get a grip

How dare you call my lord and savior a communist. You should be glad my lord is forgiving or he would probably kill you.

So, your teacher is a Marxist....here's what you should do...think long and hard about the foundation of this country...its freedoms...Freedom of Speech, Freedom of thought, Freedom of Association...think about Democracy and the belief that every person should have a voice, that every person should be able to speak that voice...and ask yourself this...

Think about these things and think of the Founders of this nation...the Federalists, the Anti-Federalists...the arguments, the differing opinions about how this country should be run....and ask yourself this...

What would Washington do? No, better yet, what would Franklin do?

Would they cower and say "Nay, my ears, they doth burn with, we cannot by chance hear of this insipid pestilence...silence, ideological scoundrel, your ideas do offend me...!"

No, they wouldn't. They'd more than likely WANT to listen, and learn, and advance their own understanding of politics...

Having Marxist beliefs isn't unAmerican...but wanting to silence someone who does, is....IMHO.

IMHO, too.
Americans, unlike citizens of some other countries, never develop the habit of literally watching over their shoulder or scanning around with their eyes as they converse with someone. The day the Land of the Brave becomes the Land of the Afraid is the day we take a step backwards and become less.

Wow, loads of different opinions.

No doubt my views are changing, as is probably everyone else's. I have been questioning whether capitalism was really that wonderful lately, anyway.

As for the movie posted on page 1, thanks for that. I must have been the only one to sit and watch it. lol

Anyway, thanks for all the replies, even the thinly veiled insults.

Dunno what the future will bring the world, but hopefully something better than the corruption and greed we have been seeing, no matter what 'systems' are in place at the time... Though judging from the movie posted by thisguyrighthere, I imagine equality would be boring. lol

Marxism is inherently Anti-American....

Are you also a Marxist?

Let me guess, you also think the current market is the result of Free-market Capitalism?

Read the Constitution and Bill of Rights and followed this with a reading the communist Manifesto, or anything by Karl Marx. Note the differences.

You are upset that I am encouraging the criticism of this systems adherents, but you forget that such criticism would be disallowed if those Marxists ever attained power. It's just another tool of the totalitarian.
(name one historical example where a Communist/Marxist gov't that has ever allowed dissent)

I kinda wonder if brainwashing is at play from all directions....

In all actuality, we HAVE BEEN brainwashed to accept Capitalism as the KING of all systems. I don't want to live in a place where everyone is 'equal', after seeing the movie thisguyrighthere posted.

But I am sick of a system that only works for those lucky enough to be Aristocrats. The 'special' people. Capitalism ONLY works for them... No matter how many hours of your life you trade away for 'goods'.

ONOZ he's beginning to question capitalism in front of our very eyes.

What type of class is it? I ask because there are at least three different types of Marxist scholars:

1. Sociologists: These are the most common. Social Conflict theory is inherently neo-Marxist. Much of Marx's work focused on analyzing the human condition within capitalism. In fact, this was the primary focus of the three great classical sociologists: Marx, Weber, and Durkheim.

2. Economists: These people are very rare these days, because Marx's Labor Theory of Value isn't very highly regarded; although some people are still doing some work in this field; particularly as it relates to market failure and marginal labor value. There is a small (but growing) group that believes that Marx was fundamentally correct in his observations of market inefficiencies, but that market forces, properly incentivized, offer a better solution than traditional Marxist solutions.

3. Political Scientists: These people study Marxist political ideology (which actually deals more with the work of Marx's followers than with the actual work of Marx).

If you're taking a Sociology class, then they'd be ripping you off by NOT spending a great deal of time focusing on Marx. If it's an Economics class then you might have reason for concern.

Seems like an excellent opportunity to learn, here.
You can ask her questions, get a genuine point of view on the subject.

It's a great way to learn about other folk's point of views on subjects.

After all, the only way you can learn the flaws in a system is to speak with the people who'll critique it.

Well, then, i guess we should also look at the deaths caused by "capitalism" eh, and attribute all american empire deaths to that.

Native americans 20-40 million
vietnamese 2-4 million
cambodians 500000
laos 750000
japan 300000 just in 2 bombs, not counting the whole ground war
philipines 500000
iraq 1,700000
and of course the untold millions in chile, argentina, panama, hawaii, cuba, congo, indonesia, south africa, that can be added up if you take into account our banana republics as well as the dictators we supported baby doc, papa doc, suharto, mogabe, pinochet, saddam, the shah and so on. Seems pretty equal if not worse than what you are penning on "marxisms" doorstep.

Marx had a few good ideas about social reform and such. The problem is they werent realistic, as inevitably people like to own stuff. Without the real opportunity for personal advancement and risk of failure we essentially become dull rusted cogs in a giant machine.

Lad you gotta sort your head out. There is nothing wrong with a teacher being a Marxist. People are entitled to hve any political views they want. If I was you I would be more worried about the education system brainwashing you than your teacher.

This is slightly tangential to Marx's work; but, one of the problems in social science is the reality that the two most encompassing fields (sociology and economics) are reluctant to talk to each other. The sociologists are viewed as "bleeding heart liberals" while the economists are viewed as "unsympathetic right-wing extremists."

Both sides are right in many regards; and I'd like to see the two sides open up a legitimate dialogue.

Maybe I'm crazy, though.

It is important at this juncture to point out how truly dangerous Marxism is. Marxism is the ideology behind untold MILLIONS of deaths.

30 million died in Ukrainian famine
2 Million died in Soviet Gulags
100 million died in Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward in China

Clearly this death count should be reason enough to reject the Ideology.

Marxism is not the cause of the deaths, the people enforcing it is. It's amazing how thick people are who spew false information and outright ignorance on the subject.

Marxism does not promote violence. Period.

And OP, go have fun being a slave to capitalism. When you reaize that the opportunity presented in America only applies to about 5% of its population, you'll see it's not all fun and games.
