EU studies CO2 capture in great carbon roundup

I saw this today on Euronews, and I haven't found any reference to it on ATS, so here goes.

Volcanic areas produce it, and so do we, in vast quantities. Carbon dioxide. Understanding the most abundant of greenhouse gases will help in tackling climate change. Storing it back underground is a possibility, but if it is a legacy for our grandchildren, we had better understand it too.

There is a EU research project that is studying the possible effects on the environment of burying CO2 under impermeable layers of rock, creating CO2 reserves underground.

From what they have seen the CO2 stabilises after some time and becomes part of that area, and they are studying places where CO2 rises naturally from the ground to see the effects of a possible leak from one of those underground deposits.

It sounds interesting, but I don't know if it would be effective or if there could be any problem (besides a large leak).
