Does this mean that we have the answer to the beached whales and sea creature anomolies we have been seeing for the past few years?

Well I've posted all of my thoughts here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

It seems the sun is not the culprit for the magnetic variations, but there is some energy variations that I don't understand and will require extensive research.

Whatever this is, it probably wasn't solar:
Magnetosphere simulation video for Sunday/20jun

And it lasted quite a while.

Lots of info to take in here, I'm glad you started this.
Need to read through this thread again, hope you keep it going.

Thank you. I fully intend to continue with this thread, but I've got a few things going at once, and I'm kinda scoping out the path that the data has lead me to.. But I need a few days.

Interesting we are getting hit right now - but the lines are not spread out as they should be. Normally as we are getting hit with solar wind, is when the lines completely flare out - but I have been noticing it has not been doing that recently, as it should.

Here is the latest picture. You can see we are being hit with solar wind on the right top - the yellow shows us getting solar wind.

It's been steady for a few days now.

... second line.

We are getting hit very hard right now - the field is not doing it's job!

Look to the right - it is red - major solar winds - yet the magnetosphere is bunched up quite a bit.

Same photo but other side, so you can see how hard the Earth is getting hit right now.

Solar wind velocity is hanging steady around 400km/s with an approx charged particle density of 10p/cc for the last three days.

I don't think this is "unusual" activity, just the begginng of solar cycle 24 without a doubt. There seems to be some spillover from SC23 though..

It's just occured to me that this may be the reason they're doing this Hubble repair even with the threat to the astronauts' lives. The video RubberBaron posted above says that the scientists made a mistake in the calculations of solar burst cycle and that now they are predicting that the 11 year turn over solar cycle (which ends in 2012) is going to be way more severe than they had thought.

Perhaps with the new information, NASA deems it an imminent threat to the Hubble and that's why they're willing to take the risk now.

Interesting.

With there being sooo many usefull threads and topics, there is a good chance this has already been beat to death so please humor me.

There seems to be some pretty good minds in here. I would like to hear what edjucated ideas yall can throw down.

The Mayan's culture revolved around astronomy. The Magnetosphere is expected to go through some big changes in the next few yrs.
Is it possible the Mayans had the astrological know how to see this coming in 2012?
Based on good scientific theorys, what will be the consiquences for life on earth when the earth's magnetic field is at its most vulnerable point during its transition?

Where did they go?

What's happening now?

What's going on?

Why us? Why now? What about our children? This has happened before.

Here are some pictures from this morning. There are more exactly like these from earlier, but it gives you a good idea about what has been happening today.

the above one concerns me, because we were getting hit, yet it was completely twisted up.

Solar wind speed is still hovering around 350-400 km/s and the particle density is still stickin to 6-10 p/cc, for a fourth day now.

Has the earth's polaritys switched in man's life time? I am not trying to deviate. Just very interested in the subject. Its estimated that the last reversal was 780,000 yrs ago. Will it make earth more vulneralbe to cosmic radiation?

Great question! The magnetosphere from what I've seen appears to be very reactive to other charged bodies or energies in the general vicinity of the solar system, so not only is it affected by the Sun, there are gamma ray bursts, other planets, random turbulence that our solar system cruises through..

It's possible I guess, but I'm sure that the lack of technology in the last 780,000 years would have kept humans mostly in the "dark" (hehe) about it.

Solar radiation always seeps in to the poles, and that energy has to go somewhere. Hmm, what if the balance was tipped and we had a magnetic pole of Wisconsin or North Korea? LOL! They'd get some really beautiful auroras..

I can't imagine all of the effects..

I want to know how Mars lost it's magnetic field, and I think that is probably what killed that planet. If it was a natural process, it might suggest that the magnetosphere gradually weakening to nothing and *poof*, disappearing...

I mean, there's many myths and legends that can be interpreted as anecdotal evidence of anything.. (spinning compasses, odd animal behavior, extreme weather) It could be possible that the ancient Mayans or Egyptians were aware of some of these things (or even contemporary Native peoples, as they seem to have a deep and spiritual connection to the Earth (well not so much these days... British colonialists, I'm looking at you here..), but we can only make guesses as to what the ancients really believed. Even today's young and brilliant Chinese minds feel as if "the old ways" are being pushed aside, even forcefully at times.

But I guess that since only relatively recently (and for a short period of time) we've developed technologies that are capable of detecting (or being affected by) changes in the Earth's magnetic field that we're only really considering and learning about the effects and we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg.. The universe is a big place, and I've seen data that I can't really explain without feeling humbled and thinking there's a whoooole lot we will never understand in our lifetimes.

It's fun to try, though.
