Not funny: Barack Obama laughs at Wanda Sykes "joke" about wanting Rush Limbaugh dead
blog
s.telegraph.co.uk
What was Wanda Sykes thinking? Perhaps more to the point, what was President Barack Obama thinking when he laughed and smiled as the
comedienne wished Rush Limbaugh dead?
Although the Left is reporting her White House Correspondents' Dinner speech as "taking shots" at Limbaugh and mocking everyone, that's a gross
misrepresentation of what turned into a hateful and disgusting diatribe.
I was at the dinner and I began by laughing at Sykes's gentle teases about the press loving Obama so much they never capture him on film smoking but
often seem to get him on the beach.
It was amusin (visit the link for the full news article)

i saw this on drudgereport and knew immediately that it was gona be posted here.
A few things:
1.) I agree with Wanda Sykes. I laugh about it too.
2.) This is no different than Rush Limbaugh wanting the country to fail, or making fun of Marty McFly for having a disease
3.) It's a joke. Lighten up. It's no different than "don't go hunting with Cheney" or "Nuklar" from Bush. It's not comedians fault that
Republicans make themselves easy targets.

I see we have another person here who hopelessly buys into the Left-Right paradigm. Republicans, Democrats, it's all the same. Wake up.

Yup. 2 important facts you need to know now-a-day.
#1: Wishing harm on a Democrat is against ATS rules, and may land you on the Homeland Security watch list.
#2: Wishing harm on a Republican is highly endorsed by ATS, and will land you on the Late Show with David Letterman.

I agree with you, as the leader of the nation it shows little class on his side. He should act as a moral leader. What does this teach young people? I
remember during his campaign, he was the first presidential candidate that I can remember that says we should capture and "kill" suspected
terrorist, or take em out as he continually says to this day. Again what does this teach young people. Not even Dubya said that. I know I will get
flamed for that but bring them to justice would be a better term as a moral leader.

Seriously?
Laughter isn't a controlled response; when something is funny, people laugh. I find this to be the essence of ridiculous, if this is what they have
to criticize the man for then they need to give it up.
But of course this story is typical of the American Political Machine.
There's not much room for differing interpretations of what Sykes said. She called Limbaugh a terrorist and a traitor, suggested that he be
tortured and wished him dead.
Good lord it's a DAMN JOKE!

It is a joke. People laugh when some one tells a joke and it is funny. I have laughed at some pretyt vulgar jokes before and I bet you have too.
Is Obama not allowed to enjoy jokes now that he is the president? That seems a silly notion to me. It is a joke, He laughed.
Get over it.
So far the biggest complains I have seen against Obama are the gifts he gives to people, and now he laughed at a joke..... Come on, can not one person
find a real issue to take up with Obama? If not, perhaps it is time to rethink your position.
He did not laugh just because he is a democrat or a liberal. I know plenty of extreme conservative repbulicans who would have laughed to. You know
why? Because it is a JOKE, and they understand that it is a JOKE!
I have a question for you, are you just as disgusted by Obama laughing at a joke as you are with Rush's hoping that our country fails soley because
he does not like our president? If not, then perhaps you have some serious thinking to do.....

I always find it funny how people keep saying this. Please stop letting MSNBC brainwash you and start reading up on what he really said about it.
When he said he wanted Obama to fail he never said he wanted the country to fail at all. He (as well as a lot of people) view Obama as a socialist and
has said repeatedly that he wants his policies to fail. Obama does not equal the United States of America and it is sort of disturbing that people
seem to think he does.

I like to look at this way... I hate them both! Left/right, red/blue -- it's all the same to me. But even so, it's almost as if they have this game
going on... like a competition to see which one can annoy/piss me off the most.
As it stands, Rush Limbaugh is a true champ at this game... he really knows how to play!

While I do not disagree that a joke is just that, I must correct your mis-statement. Rush never said he wants our country to fail. He did say he
"hopes Obama fails". You and 'gimme-some-truth' have completely mis-characterized the statement. Having a difference of opinion in the direction
one wants our country to go, does not equate to wanting the country to fail.
Just wanted to clear that up for anyone who didn't actually hear Rush's statement.

I can't believe Sykes had the nerve to say "I know you're all into this transparency stuff." She can't be serious. There is no transparency.
Bills have not been posted online 5 days in advance as promised, and the Federal Reserve's books are still completely shrouded in secrecy. What a
joke these idiot celebrities are.

Personally, I thought it was hilarious. But then again, I would also find the death or threatened death of alot of main stream figures, hilarious.

"I hope his kidneys fail" was obviously not a joke about wanting Rush Dead, it was a fairly off-color reference to the frequent scandals involving
his drug use.
I don't think it was quite the lynching the OP is making it out to be. It was just a joke, in Wanda's usual comedic style, and it was pretty damn
funny. She was there to amuse people, and laughing at her joke wasn't really out-of-place or necessarily insensitive.
I really don't think either the President or Wanda Sykes honestly wants Rush dead.

Exactly. Its about the abuse of the drugs that he was taking, which she was leading into with the oxycontin references and how they destroy your
kidneys.

Which makes me wonder if any of those people have ever seen Wanda Sykes. If you've seen enough of her stuff, she isn't some partisan whackjob, in
fact, I thought she's made some hilarious jokes about Clinton.

Of course not, but both sides of the political spectrum that they have placed themselves in love nothing more than to be whipped into a frenzy over
something that has been completely blown out of proportion.
And heaven forbid that once you take the oath of office you laugh at an off color joke.
