how do you know how many stars you have?

Go to your profile, and check the bottom of your avatar.

Is the only way to get flags by creating threads?

The ads never bothered me anyway.

So is the difference between the new flag count display in one's public profile and the old flag count display in one's profile the amount of times you have flagged your own threads?

Mine are the same.

What if the difference is in the flags you all have given to hoax threads?

I remember reading in thread about the hoax forum where flags and stars do not count.

That would mean that a lot of you have flagged threads that were hoaxes before the creation of the hoax board!

i'm a dork, sorry. I missed page 2 of the thread somehow. Thank you.

They just added that feature in.

So i just need to actually create threads to rid myself of the ads? The ads are not as bad anymore. I would have given a kidney to rid myself of those ads we used to have that popped down from a banner. Since they are gone, the ads we have are completely ignored.

Unfortunately I create few threads, and the ones I create do not attract many flags.

At this rhythm, I will have to wait some 25 years to reach the 200 flags level.

I'm in the same boat.

I'd like to think I still contribute (daily) but unless I start a new thread how can I get flags?

I don't want to start threads just for the sake of flags!

Oh well. Great news S.O. and really well done. I'm sure many members will be grateful for this, myself included, even if I can't benefit (yet).

Anyone with that many posts deserves the flags! Done.

Don't worry about flags and stars, they are as subjective as any other personal opinion.

Here, have some.

We are only talking about the ads, after all, nothing special.

Edit: only after the post did I noticed that you have more than 200 flags, what you need is threads, can't help you with that.

Thanks, you are a true player,
is funny but I don't really care much for the post numbers, flags/stars but when they are made into an issue like now, I can not stop wondering about people that because of silly threads they get flagged by their adoring followers.

But that is how things work sometimes, specially if you have been here like me for 5 years.

And you are number two on the most post member list.
I am an ATS junkie.

I think it's a nice incentive and great new feature.
I like the creativity coming from the top at ATS. Leading by example.

i am sorry - but flags and stars are ZERO indication of quality - rather popularity and herd mentality

just look at how many flags that threads in the HOAX section have - were they quality ????

if you want to reward members for thier quality contribution - applause is a far more accurate metric of a posters contribution - as its a staff obly award .

of course - as my applause tally isnt far behind my flag count - i would say this - wouldnt i

Its a nice reward.
Well done.

I also liked the NO FRILLS LIST:

New And Improved: ATS Terms & Conditions Lite!

I just don't seem to be able to locate the star score... in my profile.

Thanks a lot Bill.

Love not seeing the ads.

I always wondered how many stars I had racked up.

Stars: 1094

IA has a point too.

Flags and stars simply mean you have captured people's attention and that they agree with you. It doesn't mean what you posted is correct or informative.

Applause is (usually) only given for high quality posts that actually contribute to a thread or topic.

Perhaps they could be factored in somehow? Like 250/250/250/50(applause)

I hope a one liner (worder), and not bothering to read the thread will be accepted in just this one case.

Thanks.

Under member tools,

Then click members and on the bottom left you can sort by post count. However, thats the only way I know

If you click on the "member tools" dropdown menu and click on "members" you will see at the bottom of the page you can sort the database results by join date/posts/staff/etc.

Edit: What mr fredt said.

50 applause???

I think you are talking about the elite of the elite of the elite there!

I mean, I have 17 threads, and a semi-respectable 146 Flags - but still 0 applause. At this rate the 250 flags quota won't be that hard to reach, but I'll absolutely never hit 50 applause!

(I'm going to develop a complex here cause the mods don't like me, sob sob sob
)

Getting ad revenue for a site like this has to be hard enough as it is.

About 90% of all our page-views come from non-members. So this is simply a small reward for those that help make that happen.

How do you know? The members often don't log in; they just browse before they find something they want to replay to.
