Critics warn US air strikes bolstering Taliban

KABUL (AFP) - Charges that scores of villagers died in US bombings against the Taliban have led to demands for a halt in air strikes amid warnings that civilian casualties are driving Afghans to join the insurgency.

But the US and NATO forces taking on the militants say air power is an essential advantage that insurgents are trying to disable by engineering situations in which it harms civilians.

Your last statement is so correct, and may I go on to say:


The problem is and has always been there is no need for this war. All we have done is to make people victims killed more innocent (men, women, children) than we have claimed to be the enemy! War by design is fought by the poor! And they are fighting for the rich to continue to keeping them rich. Then the news covers they story with their spin (the word “spin” means to lie, look it up) and here we go again justifying this unnecessary war!

Then a individual comes in (because he/she has read it in the book) and tells everyone we need to do this “surgically” with a new weapon. I just love that statement, after serving years ago describing that is like a tree cutter trimming his toenails with a chainsaw. So much for being surgical! 99% of the wars are unnecessary, we need to talk and work things out and not play the rich mans game of war with our children!
