'Go back and die in Gaza'

english.aljazeera.net

Since Israel's closure of the Gaza Strip in 2007, only severely sick Palestinians have been allowed to seek medical attention elsewhere provided they receive authorisation and security clearances from the Israeli authorities.

However, getting the special permit that allows patients to leave Gaza for medical treatment is a bureaucratic hassle and, many Gazans say,
comes with strings attached.

According to Stephanie Doetzer, who interviewed Hadas Ziv of the Israeli organisation Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), Palestinian patients are increasingly being asked to make an impossible choice: Either to become collaborators with the Israeli intelligence apparatus - or to remain in Gaza without medical treatment.

So basically you're saying you hate Jews? I see where this thread is going.

Just preparing you for the responses. I personally think it's absolutely disgusting, but I'm sure people won't believe it is true and spend hours trying to find evidence that it's not.

The segregation there is unimaginable to most Westerners. Kind of reminds me of Nazi Germany. Anti Semites indeed.

War is hell. No easy way to tend to either side, but it is clear that Isreal's help is needed, to join together in an effort to better all thier lives is clearly what should take place, but alas, it will not happen.

What are the chances?

I'm currently at work and I had to run some morphine upstairs. I loaded it in Pyxis and turned around and got the dirtiest look I've gotten in years.

I don't have to dress in any specific way because it's 3 in the morning so I don't really leave the pharmacy. Because of this, I wear whatever Tshirt I grab first when it's time to leave.

Today it was a shirt that says "RAMALLAH" (a mostly politically motivated hardcore band) and down under a picture of a bio-chem face mask "If I Die Today" which no matter how hard I think can I in my mind make into something offensive to anyone. They already called and filed a complaint by the time I had gotten back downstairs.

Last place I was employed I had a 5 day suspension for wearing a Ramallah shirt that said "These Are The Days Of Revenge" under a picture of a Palestinian kid throwing a rock at an Israeli tank with the turret pointed at him. Ah, the world we live in.

I can only wonder about the Armies of the World meeting in the fields of Megiddo in Israel written in Prophecy, is this what happens when the whole world finds out the truth about Israel and what it has done ? ( Manipulated Countries into War )

Certainly I have not yet seen this story covered at CNN, FOX, Drudge, or even the Huffington Post - Only by Al Jazeera ...

Besides this story's intrinsic 'news worthiness,' prima facie, AL Jazeera, being an 'alternative' and 'credible' news outlet, I felt this story was appropriate for posting here in the ATS 'Alternative News Forum.'

It's not about 'bashing Israel,' only about an 'alternative news report.'

I do believe most of the sick are trying to go to other occupied territories, Egypt and Jordan for specialist treatment through zionist check points. Very few go to Israel and when that happens, it is splashed all over the media. Some how I doubt Israel will contemplate offering the Palestinian people health care, it would be too expensive and they have already spent a great deal on bombing them.

By the way, how does one on their death bed manage to bite the hand that feeds them?

Segregation??? Gaza is not Israel. Gaza is hostile to Israel. You guys are unbielivable. It is an acitve conflict!!! Both sides shoot each other.
So instead of questioning why ill people from Gaza have to go to Israel at all, instead to their own hospital that treated them before Hamas, for example, you question Israel border policy. If i would recieve permit to go into Gaza, i would be killed. Not healed.
If there would be no rockets, there would be no suffering of civilian population. They should demand it from their democratically chosen leaders.

No, this will happen after the world makes Mine Kampf required reading for all.

I was in the front yard the other day doing something. I have a large male classic and beautiful German Sheppard ha was out there with me resting in the yard with another Sheppard.

Anyway this older lady drove by and stopped and in a heavy accent ask me where I got those dogs. She couldn't take her eyes off them. I told her they were retired pilot dogs but she kept asking. I told her one was possibly of an Austrian line or type. She said "Austira. Where did you get those dogs"

Anyway I realized she was Jewish and may be having flash backs. You know there are a lot of people still alive that associate a German Sheppard with the last time they saw their other family members.

For others is was a katuysha rocket.

One of the most interesting quotes from the interview is this one -

The patients are in a lose-lose situation. If they refuse to co-operate with the Israelis and are sent back, they may die because they can't get appropriate treatment in Gaza.

If they do manage to get the permit, they will be branded as potential collaborators.

Whether you really did it or not is not so important. If people think you collaborated, your life may be at risk. In the end, everyone suspects everyone else. It's like Orwell's 1984.

And this is the objective - humiliation and fragmentation.

On the other hand Israel is dealing with a enemy that will do whatever it takes to survive. This means that Israel has to adapt to this fact. I could understand a vary personal questioning process involved with admitting people inside Israel for medical treatment. From this we could also assume that aljazeera is not exactly going to explain this questioning process in favor of Israel.

As always I have to say that I will always expect any country to defend it's own citizens before others. Also to make a fair and accurate assessment I believe that we would have to be there on the ground unbiased with knowledge of both sides of the equation. This kind of assessment we could say has little to no chance of happening. What we are going to get is an opinion going either way and depending on which side that opinion is on people are going to either disregard or hang on to it for future use.

Yes, but one side shoots with rocks and bottles and unguided toy rockets. The other side uses billions of dollars worth of helicopter gunships, and jet fighters with 8 thousand round a minute guns and laser guided and television guided bombs and rockets.

So what your saying is that as soon as the Palestinians stop shooting their toy rockets into Israel, then Israel will leave the occupied portions of Palestinian land and remove the roadblocks and finally give them State recognition and make all the Israeli settlers demolish their homes and go back to Israel?

Actually the Israelis will probably tighten the screws even more if the Palestinians stop their limited resistance. The current issue is not whether they will allow the Palestinians their freedom, it never has been so, but it is about the grave offence the zionist feels with regards to the absence of an Eretz Israel ethnically cleansed of the indigenous population.

It sticks in the craw of the zionists that a people, whom they believe to be beneath them, even dare to fight back let alone resort to their bare hands and with fortitude.

True. If both sides had the same weapons (as they had in 1948) - it surely would not make things better, now would it? Compare losses. By the way, can i launch this toy rocket with several kgrs of explosives and shrapnel at your house? Toy is toy.

In Gaza Israeli settlements were demolished and Israelis were taken back to Israel. And now toy rockets fall on Ashkelon and Ashdod. So you know what - if doing this thing first did not help, maybe stopping rockets first would?
By the way , those toy rockets cost several hundred dollars to make each. Not speaking about RPGs ,mortar rounds and ammo or even payroll to militiaman. And yet Gaza civilians need to go to Israel, their arch enemy, for medical treatments. Talk about prerogatives. When those change, maybe there would be chance for peace.

Factually incorrect on all counts. In 1948 the Palestinians had no idea what had befallen them. They were largely farmers living in the villages of their ancestors and emerging from colonialism and anticipating a Palestinian state as promised by the British. In the meantime 700,000 Europeans hardened by the savagery of WW2, armed to teeth and financed by zionists in the US descended upon them. The Palestinians never had a chance.

If the Palestinians had the same arms as the Israelis, the Israelis would loose. Let us not forget what 5000 Hisbullah militia men using modern battle tactics did to 40,000 Israeli soldiers with armour and air supremacy in 2006 in the Lebanon.

Finally no one would want a home made rockets to land on their home, that is why most people do not occupy other people's land. The rockets fired from Gaza land on the towns of Sederot and Askalon which are the former homes of the people of Gaza.

Well another sad peice of news coming out of Israel and Palestine.

You know at some point I might have to stop caring in order to keep my sanity in these matters. It's ridiculous to think that in this day and age we still have countries and people who act this way with eachother.

I mean, atleast in wars past you got to collect your dead and help the wounded.

What ridiculous times we live in.
