Standing on the edge
staring blankly ahead
on the brink of insanity
I should go to bed
The midnight hour now long deceased
the sun to rise to soon
To light the path
that darkness walks
once shackled to
the moon
Distant screams
now loud and clear
beating the drums
inside of my ears
Hollow eyes
like stars under cloud
no sparkle no shine
no gleam allowed
I fear I am tired
what if I am dead
I know that I am not
I should go to bed...
Sleep deprivation
no rest to be found
chased endlessly it seems
by devilish hounds
weary and weak
no strength for tears
not a single thought
no why am I here
Eyes getting heavy
nothing more to be said
its late and I'm crazy
I should go to bed...

Thank you! The wee hours these days seem to be, for me at least, the only time that there is peace... awwww quiet time!

Great description of that fuzzy world of tiredness.

Some say if you stay awake for long enough you meet the dead, I guess the expression dead to the world is related to this theory?

I also find myself in this situation. The odd thing is, to me, is that in the wee hours of the night or morning, I find myself the most philosophical and the most lost in thought. But then my schedule kicks in and I am forced to go to bed and suppress my deepest thoughts or insanities.
Well done and quite descriptive!

I love you man!

Seriously, I too seem to think more clearly. I think that is because it is the only time that I can find total peace and serenity!!!
