Hi all
Here is a poem I wrote many years ago, whilst traveling around on board HMAS Darwin. I think the year was 97, and I was heading for Japan
As The Wind Moaned
As the sun sinks slowly in the west
and the clouds rolled through the sky,
The willow bends her arms to drink
from the river that flows on by.
Slowly the night sets in
and a moan is heard high upon the wind
I sit beneath the willow tree,
and i wonder, does she moan for me!
I turn and see the willow weep
as the wind caresses her gentle sleep
the moan i hear fades away
it is not for me that it moans this day
To who I ask does it moan
another spirit far from home
gentle waves and crashing seas,
someday, she will moan for me
until that day, here i sit
pondering life, and its mysteries
watching the moonlight far a way
releasing how far from home i am today,
but soon, home is where i will be
back with friends, happy as can be
but still i wonder
when the wind will moan for me.
