I live in Idaho and noticed at around 5am a very bright if not the brightest star in the sky just above the horizon in the east. It is amber or orangish color. Does anyone know what it is?

Not too familiar with stars at this time of day. I thought maybe Jupiter or Mars, but not sure.

I think you may have seen the planet Venus, as the planet is known as the "Morning Star" this time of year.

From description sounds like Betelgeuse to me. Is it above Orion??
