i don't think this thread is really aimed at atheists or people who disagree with a president acknowledging supernatural powers

Then why this question?

Skeptics, are you upset President Obama believes in prayer?

What is the point of this question? This question doesn't make ANY sense.

The OP has not properly answered blupblup's question.

BTW, I love your avatar!

Very apropos that we would be visited by Leia while discussing OT's penchant for speaking Yoda-ese.

OT, When you wake up, if you would be so kind, could you please;

1) Tell us your age so that we may impart our empirical wisdom on your frame of reference.

Please note we will not accept answers such as, but not limited to;

It is of no concern of yours and only the Lord's,

Age is but a construct, OT's wisdom is not bound by temporal servitude,

2) Specificity regarding your spiritual thoughts.

Please define, in .5 words or less, your thoughts regarding the world, universe and beyond.

3) Define skepticism as it relates to Obama and prayer.

4) Bonus points for not referring to yourself in the third person.

Lello wishes upon you only the happiest of sleep that someone in your position can maintain.

It has been wished upon you, and as, is it will always be.

This here is how Yoda would speak. Even Yoda makes sense.

Remember, Yoda makes sense when he was 100 years old as when he was 800 years old.

And yet people keep asking you what you mean.

Well, I'm kinda way above, but let's not discuss that.

belief? opposite of skepticism!!!!!

We are ALL skeptical of something.

A person may believe in prayer, but maybe not your kind of prayer.

Again, "skeptic" is not a correct term to use. "Atheist" would be a more proper term.

Are atheists upset with Obama's belief in prayer? No. They don't care. Only time they would care is when he decides to make it a law to force everyone to pray.

lol i just picked the avatar because it's the scene where she says:

"Aren't you a little short for a stormtropper?" i love that scene.

i think i get what you're saying. the country has christian foundations, even if we don't agree with the quality of the christian or the decisions of the christian (some were christians that became deists, for example) founders and subsequent leaders, we acknowledge they are at the very least, spiritual, and at the very best, exaggeratedly christian.

the people questioning you seem to be asking why you would find the need to point this out to the current president's voters. but i can see the logic. if many of them are atheist, how do they reconcile with their atheism, the idea of a christian, praying president. the answer seems pretty obvious, if everyone just stops to think about it for a moment...

Again, why would atheists (or "skeptics") care if president Obama believes in anything? Our government is a secular institution or should be. Should we be very afraid if the president is Muslim or Scientologist, or even Satanist? As long as our president do his or her job as a president and follow the constitution, then we have no problem.

Who cares if the fundies bemoan that the president should do more? I say, SCREW THEM. I, for one, very glad that the constitution is there. If not, ALL OF US will be pretty upset.
