US jails China bankers for fraud

news.bbc.co.uk

Two former Bank of China managers and their wives have been given lengthy jail sentences in the United States for stealing $485m (£320m).

Xu Choafan, Xu Guojun, Kuang Wan Fang and Yu Ying Yi had also been convicted of passport fraud and of laundering the money through banks and casinos.

The Las Vegas court also ordered the four to pay back $482m.

Prosecutors said the convictions showed foreign nationals could not "live off their ill-gotten gains in the US".

What the heck is going on here? Why ha sit taken 5 years to jail these people?

Why am I not able to find anything on the internet relating to their initial arrest? I tried a search for 'bank of china managers arrested', but nothing comes up except for this sudden news..

So I changed the search a little (Chinese bank managers arrested) and still can only find the same type of stuff, the oldest being from Sept. 08. and that's from a gambling site www.onlinecasinoextra.com...

Is this for real or is there some sort of game going on here, especially with the apparent build up of Chinese military (see related thread).

Well, these people have got 25 years inside, after being arrested in 2004, found guilty in august 2008 and sent to jail now.. Either I am drastically out of touch with how the prison systems work these days or something is very wrong here.

25 years is just about long enough for everyone to forget that this 'crime' and the 'missing' money ever existed..

well Im sure with all that money that they laundered, they had enough of it to get some pretty high priced attorneys in there to buy them as much time as they could. Im not suprised about the time it has takin to indict these people, thats just how the courts roll. You commit a crime 10 years ago, watch your ass cause you still might not be in the clear.
Im glad these people got caught...In my Hometown.

One thing you do not do....
Try to Rip Off Las Vegas.

Yes, it is a bit rich.. makes you wonder how they categorise 'ill gotten gains' these days..

does this include Mexicans jumping the border into the USA, working hard for next to nothing so they can send a few cents home each week to feed their family?

And as you say, does this cover Bush and Co? And what about any US company that has its hands deep in the pockets of places such as Iraq and its oil or the building of the US super embassy there..

The use of the terms in this report feels more like a hate campaign is in the offing..

Its likely that these guys simply were whistleblowers on illegal banking practices in the US - they were jailed to shut them up. Ity probably took a long time because it was political and China didnt want to endorse the corruption.

I have been thinking about approaching some Chinese interests and get them to try and shutdown the COMEX by forcing them to supplyu gold they dont have (ie forcing them to admit they are lying cheating stealing pricks). I think if it happened, and you forced the COMEX into default - you would get a result exactly like this - the guilty would go free, and they would lock up the innocent.

It happened to the Hunt brothers in 1980, they bought all the silver on the COMEX (who by law are supposed to hold 90% of the paper they sell in real metals). When the Hunts asked for delivery of the metal they had legally bought, the COMEX and government worked together to convict them of crimes, and send them to jail - total corruption.

The same thing is happening today - right now - the COMEX is furisously seeling naked gold and silver shorts, as aree JP Morgan, Chase, Citi and so on - this is purely to try and keep the US dollar alive long enough so they can finish looting all the real estate from the US they possibly can - then the dollar is going to die - and YOU are going to be bankrupt, and the banks will get your land if you own a mortgage on it.

Buy physical gold and silver - its about to hit the fan.

It's a shame they haven't done this to all the bankers that have contributed towards the crash of the economy. Jail the bankers

I'm sure that if this particular case is genuine then there will be several compnaies and businesses going out of business or have already collapsed.

These actions obviously would hav ehad some contributory effect

Oh come on people.

The report is talking about some "Corrupt Bankers" who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar it did no say anything about Bush and his band of merrymen. Nor does it say anything about Chinas military.

These guys were doing what all Bankers do and they just got caught is all. Business as usual.

You think?
I am beginning to wonder...

Someone is trying to provoke China... and I reckon they will be blaming China for some reason...
This latest news just posted in this forum suggests something is definitely not right Chinese and American ships clash.. (again)

The fifth such incident in two months
www.timesonline.co.uk...

We are all aware of how much of a hold China has over the american dollar..
Does someone want to deliberatley bring down the dollar by making Chnia angry so that the Amero can be brought in, along with a global bank..
Even a lot of car manufacturers have been in talks in becoming a global entity recently.

Madoff was Lex Luthor compared to these morons.

Did you know his secretary suspects the whole arrest was orchestrated by himself way in advance, to make the govt's investigation go a certain way, in order to protect his family and other people involved ? She talked about how he had plant documents setup to be discovered.

LOL, that was the first thing that popped into my mind when seeing this heading:

"When is the U.S. going to jail the U.S. BANKERS who have raped and pillaged our treasury and saddled us and our coming generations with the largest debt in history?"

Oh wait, I forgot...They OWN the 'lawmakers' and courts here.

Nevermind.

Recently?

Heck they are all that way already.

Do a search on Ford Alone. If their factories in the US fold. it's OK they have plants in South America and Europe they'll do fine. They'll just be like everyone else and sell their foreign made products back to the US.
