If I should perish
be it in pain or even in my sleep
I asked only this of you
please friend do not weep
I don't want tears
I want no sympathy
I for one believe
I will live for eternity
I am more than just
this sack of skin and bones
the part of me that you love
will forever live on
Do not be afraid for me
For I will have no fear
it will be a new adventure
I will be happy here
Death comes for each of us
in many different ways
we are each blessed with
a certain number of days
Live to love
and love to laugh
live ever moment
as if it is your last
If you must cry for me
make them happy tears
be as joyous as I
for each and every year
I won't be far away
and if you want to see me
just close your eyes
and recall a happy memory....

I thought it was beautiful my friend. I've often tried to come up with a final expression to be remembered by. So far all I have is:

"When I have gone, I hope it takes six men to carry the beer."

Poetry has never been my strong suit.

I love it! I certainly would not be opposed to my family and friends having a few fairwell toasts in my honor! I am glad you like it, thank you!

I just had my beautiful, proud Akita put to sleep a few hours ago.
I feel she is still watching over me, wishing she could comfort me in my sadness.

Thank you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have several pets and they are my babies. I myself am going to have to have one of mine put down tomorrow. My heart breaks for you, but I truly believe you will reunited as will me and my beloved babies!

That was moving!
I like how you take a non-afraid approach and use a enlightened method to display passing in that death is not described as something horrible, but something inevitable, and therefore acceptable or understood. Very well done!

It is ironic that I found this today especially with all the thinking I've been doing about this mortal body we are somewhat incarcerated in.

I wanted to take a moment and dedicate this poem to my brothers life long best friend Brian, who died this morning of a heart attack. He was only 38 years old and left behind a wife and two children. Please say a prayer for them. Thank you!
