Hello, I watched an anime on youtube, about the Hroshima atomic explosion of WWII from the Japanese point of view, on the 4th of May, 2009 at about 10pm, Australian time.

The video is called Barefoot Gen, HIroshima Destroyed.
www.youtube.com...

I went to watch it again on the 5th of May, 2009 at about 5:40pm Australian time, only to find the page showing in a red banner
"This video is not available in your country"

I have tried other links within youtube of the same film only to find them also blocked.

Now I know the Australian Government is placing new internet censoring filters in Australia, but why on earth would this be blocked? Aré we not allowed to see an anime about the war, that is not showing the "glorified" world saving atomic bomb, western point of view.

I have been to the Peace Park in Hiroshima & personally found it an incredibly moving expeirence, knowing that tens of thousands of people were murdered there, but I digress I am not here to argue about WWII.

How dare whatever #%*#@%$* so & so block my internet viewing. For goodness sake it is not child porn.

Anyone else had this sort of encounter.

Regards.

Addition info on video.

It's things like this that make me regret my decision to move to Australia.

I'm contemplating moving to Hong Kong and just getting it over with.

It's because you have a chinese style internet. This is disgusting. The australian government should be hanged for fascism behavior.

Here in Canada it's the same thing for a few stuff... like buying german WW2 items on ebay... it's impossible, it's blocked... the government should get out of our lives.

EDIT: can't watch it in Canada.

U.S. here. I can't watch it either.

I wouldn't be so quick to break out the tin-foil hat, it could just be a little bug or maybe something else, but it is kind of weird.

Maybe have a look at this...

No, this is not about Internet censorship in countries like China or Pakistan where ISPs frequently block access to sites like YouTube following Government orders.

I've not bothered to see if I can see this one - but sometimes that happens to some vids in the UK, get a message something like 'this clip is not available in your country'.... Give anonymouse.org a go... It hides your IP and some other data you give out while using the internet... Sometimes helps

Seems to be a new youtube policy to protect certain copyrighted files. I know on youtube USA, there's a ton of old TV shows and movies that the networks have made available, but I can't watch them from Japan.

Unless I open a new browser, clear all cookies, and run through an American proxy, that is.

Blocked in the UK.

You can watch it in parts though:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

Part 7

Part 8

Part 9

So I don't think it's cause it's been banned. Maybe it's been removed for another reason?

Look at the deal that blocks all music videos in the uk due to a dispute with the royalties company. After that I gave you tube the bin as feel if they can pick and choos to ban a whole country from watching what they like then they can shove there advertising up their arse. I go down the torrent route for most of the content I want to watch from the net, that way the likes of you tube dont get penny one from my visits

Agree with those who don't see any conspiracy here, unless it's the conspiracy of large media conglomerates owning everything, and refusing to rent to us unless we pay their huge rent.

I've noticed a lot more stuff gone/blocked on youtube lately, seems like they are applying country filters like crazy right now.

5. PROFIT!

To elaborate on GondelleX: it is quite strange that the UK and Australia cannot view it, but the Netherlands can.. I don't know enough about international legislation to conclude anything from it, but it's definitely not a blocked video or something that you'd need to pay for. There has to be a difference in the laws concerning international media, or something..
Maybe a lawyer can help us out?

p.s. Wasn't the cool thing about the internet the fact that we suddenly were all the same - no matter where we connected? Only divided by different IP numbers.. Ahh crud.

I've noticed a trend with YouTube blocking/suspending/removing over content like this. I think either YouTube/Google has been sucked up into blocking whatever TPTB sees fit or it may possibly be part of the NWO? They're doing like car companies... YouTube and Google videos (I can't view googles videos with this browser, it's not all the same script I guess?) are split up in different formats just like GM has all it's different branches competing against eachother.

I like some YouTube videos but everything I view except from car videos or stupid stick you thumb up your *$$ comedy seems to be getting shut down.

I think we should test YouTube and start making an ATS.... or just anti-political channel(s) to see how long it takes for them to be blocked. They might only flag high view channels for things like that but it might be worth a try. I believe something is definately up not only in the real world, but the cyber world.

Maybe they'll start blocking all the UFO videos next eh?

I tried to call the google help and they "don't offer over the phone help at this time" funny for a giant company taking over everything on the web. Even rural phone companies have over the phone help. I was calling to ask why MY COUNTRY .... which has all these supposed freedoms and crap.... can't view a video? WTF! Anyone have a phone number or can find one where I can talk to something other than a recording? I was ready to record the conversation.... They're censoring one thing at a time and it's gone on for so long we're in a deep hole...

I'm in the UK and notice this more and more now.... "not available in your country"

I know there is an argument about payment going on....but it's very annoying.

Everybody who is reading this, email Youtube and let them know that they cannot censor this. Let them know that this act of communism will not be tolerated by you or the US. Threaten them by telling them you will boycott youtube if they continue this censorship and you will tell your friends, family and the internet to do the same.

I've tried to call 4 different google headquarters...

www.google.com...

everyone I call has the same pre-recorded messages and I can't get in contact with anyone. I don't want to have to drive to Austin to follow up on this. Anyone know how to get into contact with a real person from Google? How can they block content just because you're in a country. What countries have access to the content we are trying to view? It's real fishy... I don't want to don my tin foil hat here but come on, I know some of us ATSers out there have some info that could help out.
