I think it really comes down to the definition of "better". Michael Jordan in my opinion was in a league of his own. He wasn't the perfect ball
player, but it wasn't uncommon for him to rack in over 40 points in one game. He also had a way to sneak the ball in going up against monster foes.
Of course I am partial to the golden years of players like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, Magic Johnson, etc... I don't see the class of
game that used to be played...
Lebron James is a great player too imo; but I just want to see him walk the walk; he seems to have a big talk (which confidence is good, but the proof
is in the pudding)...
