As far as I can remember I have NEVER had any type of flu
I am in my mid 40's and only can recall having one
bout with a 24 hour stomach virus about 10 years ago
and then it could have possibly been food poisoning because
everyone who ate the same thing I did also got sick.

I have never had a flu shot.

Maybe once every 2 years I get the sniffles and a scratchy
throat, but thats just about it.

I can count on one hand how many times I have taken
antibiotics in the last 35 years and I was pretty proud
of that ..... that is until now, I am reading and some people
tell me it is quite possible if I get this flu it would be
much worse in my case since I have never had the flu.
When I was very young I do remember being sick
mostly respiratory, but that is it... nothing past the age of 9.

Should I be boosting my immune system or not?
Should I do anything different.

I take vitamins (multi) everyday drink tons of
green tea and water I always have.
I see people taking certain supplements like
Oscillolocinum N-Acetyl-Cysteine Collidal Silver
would I benefit from adding them to my diet.

I really would appreciate any info from someone who
would know about this. I am trying not to be paranoid I just want
to be prepared. I feel I should be doing something
just in case.

Thanks alot
and best wishes
to all!

Personally with this initial phase i would not bother if you are a healthy person. But the problem like they say is what it could turn into(i doubt it will), but you never know, thats why china is going to extremes.

So i would not worry if you get it you get it, but if you have a disease or in poor health like all flus can be bad for you.

Your senario is the same as mine. The differences being, I'm a bit older and am a 'junk food junkie'. I've always chocked it up to a high immunity and my high metabolism.(to maintain weight is @3000 cal/day). I get a kick out of walking amoungst the 'sickly' and boosting about my health is attributed to my healthy lifestyle! Of course while I'm smoking a cigarette.

I wouldn't worry though, I think we're just blessed or cursed if everybody dies and you and I are the only ones left on this planet.

EDIT- Now watch me fall over deathly ill for being so arrogant about this...my luck....

I'm glad you asked this question and I hope you get lots of responses because my husband and I are exactly the same way:
Other that a scratchy throat and the sniffles for a few days, we don't get sicks. I've never had the flu shot and for as long as I can remember I've never had the flu. My husband is the same way, except for the one year he got the flu shot he also got the flu. We have a pretty healthy life style and diet.
My husband works with the public, including lots of people who have kids and bring them in, so I'm very certain that we've been exposed to almost everything, if not everything, that goes around.
Unless you're completely socially isolated I'm guessing you've been exposed to the flu somewhere sometime in your life and just didn't get sick.

I'm thinking that on the off chance you (or even my husband and I) catch this new influenza a h1n1 than you'll actually be better off than most as you seem to have a stronger immune system.
As to the question of suppliments; the only thing I've heard is vitamin C, but honestly I'd just continue trying your best to live as healthy as possible and of course use commong sense things like regular handwashing. And relax! Its good for you and your immune system

ETA the last part about suppliments

I know what you mean my husband and I try to live
a pretty healthy life style (a side from a drink or two
).
He does seem to have more bouts with
being sick then I do. He is the one out in the world
way more then I am, but we really don't live a secluded life.

I guess there really isn't much for us to do I'm not
going to crawl under a rock. It just made me a bit nervous
hearing that the flu could be worse if you are healthier person.

Good question.
Would it mean you have a healthier immune system and better to fight off or not contract this virus? Or does it set you up to have less resistance?

I'm the opposite of you, I get every flu that goes around each season. So I wonder for people like me who've had enough flu's have built up more resistance to new strains.

Which of us has a better chance?
