Humans may be in the grip of a massive mind control epidemic.

www.stuff.co.nz...

Common parasite found in cats may be affecting human behaviour on a mass scale.

A study headed by Kevin Lafferty from the US Geological Survey indicates that a common brain parasite, Toxoplasma gondii, may be manipulating our brains.

"In populations where this parasite is very common, mass personality modification could result in cultural change," says the researcher.

"The geographic variation in the latent prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii may explain a substantial proportion of human population differences we see in cultural aspects that relate to ego, money, material possessions, work and rules." While this is all sounds far-fetched, toxoplasma has long been shown to affect the behaviour of rats, turning them into risk-takers - a cunning plot by the parasite so it can end up completing its life cycle.

Lafferty says the parasite appears to manipulate human personalities in the same way it affects rats.

When humans become infected by the parasite, we display mild flu-like symptoms. Then the invader remains in a dormant state in the brain and other tissues, unless people's immune systems are severely compromised.

He says toxoplasma is associated with different, often opposite, behavioural changes in men and women, but both genders exhibit tendencies to feel guilt (a form of neuroticism). Lafferty's analysis of different populations around the world found that people in countries with high toxoplasma prevalence were more neurotic and western nations with high prevalence also scored higher in the "neurotic cultural dimensions of masculine sex roles and uncertainty avoidance".
Infection with the parasite varies considerably from one population to another; in some countries it is very rare, while in others nearly all adults are infected.

It is believed that half of the worlds population is infected.

Wow, that all I needed to hear. As if there weren't enough things to worry about with the swine flue, 2012, abductions, terrests, male pattern baldness, STD's, red dye #2, creeping socialism, bird flu, the economy, etc.

Now a Brain parasite......Great!!!

Is it really something to worry about? it seems to me this has been around a very long time, can effect all mammals and seems to be pretty natural,we have all sorts of bugs living inside of us.Even if this was controlling our mind to a certain degree or atleast changing how it operates in certain situations im not too worried about it since for all intensive purposes its been around since we have. Not to mention lots of things effect our minds and how it operates from exercise to the food we eat etc etc

Wow you you've just shown me through your post how to color my fonts - thanks.

All I have to say is that I feel sorry for myself these days... - so if I feel guilty of feeling sorry myself I should be thinking Toxoplasma gondii maybe

The majority of the infected however, show no such drastic symptoms. Most people with toxoplasmosis have no idea they’re infected.

At Charles University in Prague, parasitologist Jeroslav Flegr administered psychological tests to people infected with Toxoplasma, and compared them to a control group.

He found alterations in the psychology of the infected individuals that seemed to be gender-based. Infected men appeared more jealous and suspicious. Infected women appeared more warm-hearted and outgoing. Both sexes seemed to be more self-reproachful than the control group.

What alterations Toxoplasma makes to human psychology in general is unclear. What is abundantly clear is that whatever those alterations are, they affect a huge number of people.

Suppose it has taken over so long ago and so far that we humans think we are who we are but infact the parasite is the real "us" and all that we have build and thought up in the last 5000 years...

Oh thats a lot to deal with for a sunday afternoon but i must say it gives a nice feeling that i am that little parasite inside my hosts brain. I wonder if i take a break during work hours my "host" will continue to do his work....

Peace

haha I love that you guys eventually find all the spooky secrets.

Listen up guys.... Toxoplasma gondii can be gotten rid of with a simple 2 day course of malaron anti-malarial and/or you could use GARLIC.

Garlic is excellent against toxoplasma gondii.

..It's obvious if you've ever seen one of those spooky cat people. The oocytes get into your food from cats walking on food surfaces. The cats get them from eating infected mice.

I heard a rough statistic of 60% of US citizens testing positive for toxoplasma gondii latent infection...and France having 80%+ infection rate (They love cats!).

Be alive! Think straight! Purge that nonsense from your system and for christ's sake don't keep cats around your food prep areas!!

.

"Infected" - warm-hearted and outgoing = jealous and suspicious = domestic violence...It just sounds like life - men don't get woman, vice-verca

''more self-reproachful'' mmm...Instead of murdering cats maybe we should incarcerate with psychopaths who have no empathy...

I truly believe something weird is up with these animals. I have had, and seen stuff happen that is too hard to express for me in words. Never really positive outcomes in any case. I am not surprised of your findings, very interesting indeed.

I only want plants around me for now - and a couple of dear people.

I was wondering why I had such an overwhelming drive to chase mice lately.

But on a serious note, we have had domesticated animals with us for years now.

I have 5 cats and 3 dogs. I did not change liter boxes while I was pregnant, so I would not get toxoplasmois. My husband did, ( and he still does 8 years later, lol now that he was in the habbit)

I would not worry about it too much. This sounds like if true would need a larger study and brain biopsies. I do not feel over powering sense of guilt or risk taking and have had animals my entire life.

I love this idea.. Even if this parasite doesn't have a large effect, what about those we don't know about

Power to the parasites!

First thought that comes to mind is the ancient Egyptians love of cats.

Second thought the comes to mind is Scientology.

Third thought that comes to mind is Star Wars.

Fourth thought that comes to mind is I must not have it because I hate fish!

Fifth thought that comes to mind is I am a dog lover and while I appreciate all creatures and will feed stray feral cats, I sure am at odds with their fickle and capricious nature.

Very interesting post and subject, I look forward to reading the links in a leisurely fashion.

Thanks for taking the time for posting it and your efforts.

This is pretty old news which I remember reading about 1-2 years back?

I think I remember reading as well that around 70% of Americans had it, while Asia was very much less affected.

Systemic saturation with colloidal silver = no viruses or parasites, with the benefits of increased electrical transmission along all neural and bio electric circuits. Attacks on the human system will continue and escalate, learn to be self sufficient in all things especially your health. Any use of colloidal metals should be thoroughly researched and understood and supplemented with internal digestive flora restoration. Refuse to succumb or don't, as there are too many humans on this planet anyway!

bump bump saving for future reference.
i found loam's thread interesting as well.
Parasites brainwash grasshoppers into death dive

I wonder what alterations could be being made to these parasites

its very scary to say the least.

And just on another note, i wonder if it has anything to do with the forcing of GMO foods into our system?

And was anyone surprised? Cat people are frightening. Some people actually dress up their cats, with little ties and makeup.

But seriously, only met 3 cats I like. Love my dog. Keeps me zombie free.

I remember reading about this a long, long time ago. Creeped me out then creeps me out now.

more proofe that dogs are mans best friend and that cats are evil and up to something. We were all worrie about a planet of the apes scenerio. turns out the cats and the gould have teamed up to take over earth!

damned dirty cats. literally. my dad got bitten by his own cat that he was rescuing after it got hit by a car. the cats mouth was so unsanitary that my dad spent two days in the hospital. his index finger on his right hand swelled up to look like a brautwurst and they almost amputated his finger. luckley he got better in time and he still has his finger.

I've had a dog give me 38 stitches on my head (thanks mr akita, i appreciate your canine teeth scars on the crown of my head. they look awesome when I get my hair cut and so much fun to explain to gawkers. but during the whole two hours they were putting said 38 stitches into my 8 year old head they never once had to consider amputation. now if I had been mauled by a cat?
