...in other words: We need more comparative and interdisciplinary research at our Universities if we want to see the big picture.

Exactly, but compartmentalization of academia is how they've managed to keep us in the dark for so long, it's deliberate. Great thread.

I'm busy right now but will throw out some research leads and half-baked ideas.

1. The Seven-Star rocks of Zhaoqing resemble Ursa Major.
www.planetware.com...

2. Lugu Lake in Yunnan province is a purported UFO hotspot, one of my students told me this, it's even mentioned in Rough Guide to China, "Sean's Guesthouse" entry.

3. Fact: Qufu is also the birthplace + hometown of Confucius, Half-baked idea: If you subscribe to the "Aliens among us" theory, then maybe this town is a hotspot.

4. A high-ranking ex-Chinese official believe aliens walk among us.
www.ufoevidence.org...

5. The "dwarf people of Sichaun" story is fairly interesting.

6. People are welcome to any opinion, but the "known"-debunkers on this site only serve to heighten interest in certain topics. The way they work against themselves by drawing attention to important info makes me laugh. "Nothing to see here, move along, move along".

Chinese people in general are fairly open about the idea of Extra-Terrestrials. This topic is massive, and I would like to see it continue.

Here's to a great thread.

Just a question, as you seem to be very knowledgeable of this particular topic, and I certainly believe it by the way.

Do Erich Von Daniken's later publications and works entail or cover this aspect of AAT? Did he ever get to Ancient Chinese Mythology?

Thanks,
GC

Not so much Daniken himself but friends/collaborators of his - a guy named Hartwig Hausdorf and another guy named Peter Krassa - both members of Danikens Switzerland-based "Ancient Astronaut Society" have published several books on this. I dont think much of it is available in English.

Those are some great additions to the OP...especially the seven-star-rocks which confirm the connection to Ursa Major. ATS Collaboration at its best

Ahh, It's very unfortunate that there is no English translation, because his (EVD) older works have been completely smeared.

I'm sure the newer publications are praise-worthy and address many of the older issues raised.

Being smeared for these topics is common. Take me for example...just some anonymous online poster...and Skeptics have felt it necessary to say about me: "You are uneducated, you dont read scholary books, you did not study at a University, you have not visited any archaeology sites, you are a con-man and a liar..."

...and I sit online and know that its all pure fabrication and character assassination and just wonder "What are they so afraid of to have to make this stuff up all the time...even about anonymous online-names?"

Oh I'm fully aware of the Smear-Campaign against EDV and the others.

You can always be sure that you're on the right track when you find Violent Opposition to your ideas.

Astronomers once believed the Earth to be flat

Thank heaven people's works (no matter how controversial) can be read and studied in pubic libraries in our day and age, as opposed to being burned and hung for heresy.

Guess we'll just have to settle with the smearing and ridicule, it is the modern equivalent of suppression.

Thats pretty interesting...and way too controversial for most people .

Why do you think some of this needs to be kept secret?

I believe in a "Supreme Being" in the sense of God, but I dont think Yaweh is that Supreme Being because his behavior is that of a physical-in-flesh being...like the behavior of most other Gods. The idea that he's of the Dragon-Serpent type is fairly new to me, so thats interesting.

Yeah - there is the issue of a strong belief by many Chinese in respect to the afterlife and their ancestors, so poking around in tombs/pyramids was probably frowned upon in terms of why prior to 1950 there was little info about.

Not to mention also that intellectual aspirations/academia was more or less purged during the cultural revolution. Even during the 50s, it was not appropriate to be engaging in archaeological studies, writing papers - let alone the mortal sin of comparing notes with western academics.

It is certainly an interesting topic and it would be interesting to see pictures/maps/artefacts etc of what's inside them.

Because it's easier to cut stone and rock to an angle rather than trying to cut it into circular shapes I assume?!?!?!

We had Missionaries to suppress ancient knowledge, they have Communists to suppress the same
