Official death toll MAY be underreported.

I'm really sorry to be yet another person promoting fear about this virus. It's just that I was reading a thread on another forum and some of the news coming from people in Mexico suggests that this thing MAY (please note all caps) worse than they are letting on.

I personally think the hype is just to scare us into submission (forced injections, quarantines, martial law) but, in my own personal interest of not acting like I have all the answers and know what is going on I thought I would share what I read on another forum.

I don't even read this forum at all really but I'm trying to get all the info I can on this flu.

To paraphrase what is going on--a doctor in Mexico is saying that the we are not being told the real number of deaths that have occurred due to the flu. He/she said that 2 or 3 people are dying a day in his hospital alone, all of them young and healthy. He is also saying that the doctor's are being told to not put "influenza" on the death certificates. Here's what another poster said:

Yesterday on a radio program was a woman who ask to be anonymous, she says she was a doctor of Hospital general, she says there where 200 deaths just in that hospital.

A friend who works in especialidad de Neumologia says there is a whole floor with thousands of patients just in his hospital.

My ex, told me there where 2 doctor who die yesterday on Hospital del Seguro.

I live like 2 kilometers of Centro de epidemiologia in Mixcoac. well guys is guarded by the army, there are ambulance every minute and believe me that place was a very peaceful always it is odd the situation there now.

official toll is not true.

I really don't know what to make of any of this. I'm not sure if I should believe it or not. I honestly just wanted to bring this to people's attention.

I think alot of people have read similar stories but it would be a good idea to begin gathering them . I don't think anyone's really surprised that the news from the insiders is contradicting the official line on things but this thread's a good idea in my opinion and I'll pop over to that other forum

Perhaps people can post their own findings of similar stories from across the web here ......

As I said in another thread, I was listening to the AM radio while in the car. I didn't get this guys name, but he and his team has some foundation or something (sadly didn't get the website either). He stated he wasn't trying to panic anyone, but from all their contacts in Mexico, he said there was a trickle effect that was not producing accurate #'s. He said they have reason to believe the # of dead is more realistically in the 500 to 750 range. He reiterated he wasn't trying to cause a panic, but from all indications, this is what they are thinking are the more correct #s.

Of course again, even with the low # of infections outside of Mexico (in comparison), you'd think at least one person would have died, but that isn't the case. Which I just find really strange. Unless people have, and we've not heard about it. Which I also doubt is the case. People in the U.S. were made to gossip as fast as humanly possible.

Is there anyone on ATS here who is in Mexico or knows someone in Mexico so we can get some feedback on what is really going on down there?

This could very well be a bunch of hubub, but we should at least try to confirm it.

Thanks for that info, fleabit. I wasn't too worried until it seemed that all the non-official stories coming out of Mexico were completely contradictory to what the official story is saying.

I agree that there are a low number of infections and are not cause for real worry. But what we need to remember about that is it wasn't like Mexico all of sudden had 1,000 cases of swine flu to deal with. It started with one person then slowly got higher and higher.

When I woke up yesterday there were just 20 cases in the US. By the end of the day it was 40, now it's 60 and several other countries are reporting cases. That's what worries me.

Not that this means a whole lot but ill relay some information I have from a friend of mine who lives in Mexico City.

He was happy at first when exams were delayed 2 weeks, but quickly realized the seriousness of the outbreak. I asked him if the mainstream news has been blowing things out of proportion, as they sometimes do.

My friend responded and told me that things were "a little" worse with numbers of infected and dead far exceeding what is on the news. He also said it is spreading mostly in the poorer areas, as they are in such close proximity to unsanitary conditions all times of the day.

He also said that allot of the upper class people are almost ignoring the problem, acting as if it is something that is affecting ONLY the lower class, and how foolish that is. All in all he is worried, but allot of his friends are out partying, since school has been pushed back.

That doesn't even worry me, unless there are increased fatalities. Then I'll start getting worried again.

Honestly, this isn't any different than any other flu. It spreads just like this. Visitors in any country to another will certainly bring flu strains back to their own countries, which will spread. With contagious levels about being the same.

So that isn't surprising to me, it's spreading just like a flu does, it's how the virus survives. The #'s of infected people are a non-factor to me at this point. I'll start seriously worrying if 2 or 3% of those infected start dying. Then we can worry and panic proper-like.

The idea of it killing the population of the poor would explain why it might not be killing others as of yet. The poor also have less access to health care.

The source of my worry is that the deaths are not accurately being reported. If they aren't, then it could very well be that the mortality rate is at or close to 2 or 3%.

It's not the flu itself that we have to worry about it's the rate at which it is killing people. If they are altering the numbers, well...you get my point

The said doctor, from inside a Hospital in Mexico who said 3-4 people were dying every day, added that comment to the BBC website two days ago or yesterday.

The BBC has since removed it, and stopped any postings of such comments on below their Flu Stories.

If anyone who is a better internet type than me know if they would be stored anywhere on the net before they are gone for ever? and try and retreive them, they included the doctors name, and the hospital, a simple way to then try and confirm this, to see if the source of this report was psyop's, a joke poster or the real Deal.

it was www.bbc.co.uk/news and then the original Swine flu stories in "add comment" underneath the journalistic piece.

This is where GodLike got its info from, I saw it, so who is able here to retrieve the BBc pages on this story for the last 48 hours or maybe 36 at most?

It says here that the Bird Flu has a 75% mortality rate.
This is extremely high, its approaching ebola type stats, which basically means, if you get it, your chances of dying are greater than your chances of living.
Another source (and I wont bother copy and pasting it because its wiki) states that the spanish flu mortality rate was between 2.5 to 5%
I wonder why Avian is so high?, sounds like a designer virus to me
