White House apologizes for Obama plane's NY flyover

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The White House apologized Monday after one of Barack Obama's presidential planes flew alarmingly low over New York city, sending residents into a panic and triggering fears of a new 9/11.

I can't help but notice how much the panic level has risen in this Country in the pas few days. Does anyone else feel as though there may be some sort of evaluation of "effects of panic" going on by the government? With the recent declaration of Emergency with the Swine flu and this admitted panic from the flyby over New York...

A livid New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he had not been warned and called the lack of notice "ridiculous and poor judgment."

...it certrainly makes it easy for me to imagine that this could be some sort of "exercize" of other sorts as well.

Just sayin.

Well regardless of what the reasons were...this was utter stupidity on the government's part.

Why on earth they didn't make sure it was widely known they were going to do this is...I'll never know.

Irresponsible....ignorant...stupid.

I'm sure that's what everyone in NYC wanted to see today....as if this country doesn't have enough problems already.

I believe that they were getting someone important out of the city or getting prepared to get important people out of the city incase this virus gets out of hand. There has to be a better reason why they did it other than photo ops. As usual what the gov is saying doesnt make sense

I was in Bayonne NJ earlier today. I saw it and it was VERY low. I have a pic of it on my phone, I just have to figure out how to get it off. Remember, Bayonne is right next to Newark airport, so planes are a normal occurrence. I was born and raised there and this made me look up and take a pic.. I don't think its as simple as what they are making it out to be. While I was standing outside of the mechanic garage I saw it (around 9:30 am) and I thought to myself, Damn I wish I had my phone out for that. Then it came back around about 4 minutes later, then again maybe 5 minutes after that. Its just weird

I'm going to try to get this pic off my phone to show you guys just how low it really was.

Well, it's a given that the people were scared. First of all, the government should have at least informed the people that they were going to fly over so low. Some are still traumatized from 9/11 so i wouldn't be surprised if they had a panic attack.

I agree that there is a lot of panic at the moment, but hell! There might be a deadly virus spreading across the nation, and the government is making careless mistakes like this

Could they be spraying a fine almost invisible atomized mist not just once but twice and could this be the only plane that could get away with this stunt?

amari.....it's be far less obvious IF they wanted to 'spray' to just use helicopters!!!

AND no, the Presidential B 747s do NOT have spraying equipment. Where do people come up with such nonsense?

(correction...just like all B 747s, they can dump fuel, as needed in emergencies. Fuel dumping is quite obvious....)

This was a signal. A victory lap if you will. A way for everyone in the know to realize the next turn in the road is here. Better approach routes and the public response being established for future endeavors...

Oh, man!!!! It was the DoD flying one of the B747s that pose as AF-1 to take pretty pictures as it circled the Statue of Liberty!!!!

The Director of the White House Military Office has taken the blame...and the President is really pissed off!!!

I see a resignation letter in the guy's (Caldera's) near future.......

You know-- I also get the feeling that something was not right with the White Houses explanation. There was no reason for that plane to be so low. And if there were- the Mayor would of known about it.
But if it were something the public was not supposed to know about- why would the mayor have made such a public announcement about his disgust at this act? Maybe to have people buy that it was just a simple fly over?

Or am i just a conspiracy nut, believing that everything the federal government does is a lie....

When I first saw the video of the plane being escorted low over NY, and realized it was for photo ops, I had not read the part about it being Obama, and did not until today in fact....
But my first thought at the time was "Whoever did this is really stupid or a major a**hole to think it would be a great idea....an unbelievable a**hole..."

And then I find out it was the president himself. Hmm....
Yeah, I didn't expect that. And that's just ridiculous. To me, it just seems like a way to instigate fear or else it has to be for some other purpose, I mean, anyone else would think "hey, lets not do this, this will terrify people and cause alarm, we can do photo ops some other way..."
And the president, surely being aware of what happened on 9/11 is either REALLY stupid or very calloused/inconsiderate OR had some completely different purpose in mind...
My opinion for now, anyway. It just seemed like a sick joke right off the bat.

The current president had no idea of this 'photo op'...and he is angry because of the bad PR.

Uhhh.....I'm not the president and I know what happened on 9-11 LOL.....
And I am perfectly clear on who WAS the president at the time, but that is not what I was pointing out.

Just saying, if Obama KNEW what happened on 9-11 (and that was a bit tongue-in-cheek, because as the president of the USA I'm certain he KNOWS about 9-11 happening lol...duh) why would he let this happen, or arrange this situation to take place? Wouldn't he guess that there would be a lot of fear and upset about it? Bleh....

Ummm.....AGAIN.....he didn't know they were doing the photo op with one of the planes.
It's not like they ask him: "hey Mr. President, do you mind if we take one of the planes out for a spin a take some pics?"
Believe me, the guy has more important stuff to do than to be concerned where the planes are if he's not using them.
It was the DoD who screwed up.

Couldn't they have used Photoshop like everyone else and make it seem that they were flying in NYC?

Only thing missing on the plane to give the complete scare would be a picture of a swine painted on the plane's sides.

I believe your U.S. Government is trying to get you so worked up that when they release the real plague that kills people left, right, and center, that you will gladly march into a FEMA camp and "let the Government take care of you".

For the wealthiest who sit high above all of us, what they enjoy most is enacting ritual drama on a grand scale that in the end garners them more power and control over the common folk.

This little airplane flight is part of the ritual drama. For the masses, those on top want us to merge Air Force One and the attacks of 9/11 on NYC so that a new thought form enters the collective mind: what exactly that thought form is is debatable, but it would have elements of creating an expectation of Air Force One being highjacked and destroyed...

Something on this scale isn't simple stupidity on the part of some Government hack. Sure someone can be a sacrificial scapegoat to please and appease the masses. But the thoughts of combining Air Force One and 9/11 are now marrying together and preparing the groundwork for a future plot twist.

The devils who sit at the top of the heap on this world have written a script that they have been following time out of mind. Now all of us have the opportunity to watch how this script is followed with such grand sweep and detail ... together with necessary smokescreens as well as more smoke and mirrors to keep the great unwashed calm and numbed and increasingly docile to the Government's direction and control.

Do you really need a 747 along with an armed escort to take pictures? Think about the significance of what has been done here. This was a signal, and a message for the general public. What that message is will be up for interpretation but everyone will understand it soon enough...

I didn't see anything like that, but who knows. I was more concerned about how low it was flying. It was way lower then the planes that land in Newark airport... Also, if it was a photo op, then who was taking the photo?? Was it the people in the fighter jet? Why would they use a fighter jet to take pictures??

I truly do understand that some are suggesting he didn't know, have anything to do with it...that it was DoD....
But that's just what people are saying.
In case somebody didn't read what I said in my last post I said essentially that I HOPE it's the case that he didn't know/plan this. I don't feel clearly convinced that it was. No matter what you say lol.... Prove to me that it wasn't, outside of what the media is saying...gawwd....

Even if he did, it's not like it would matter, it just matters who it was a signal to, if it was a signal, or who collectively decided it was for the purpose of testing people's level of fear, or whatever possible things we could brainstorm in that department.
I have to agree, there is no good reason for this, like you said, they could use photoshop...it was completely unnecessary, and traumatic for people (which could have easily been anticipated if their intentions were not malicious, and thus the event prevented).
And omg why over NY of all places....wow.....
In the back of my head, like the 'bad dream' impressions ringing in before logic, if I was there, I'd be thinking I was being mocked or taunted or harrassed by the idea of another attack purposely.
It just kind of makes my stomach sour...

It's my bet that some terrorist group used some technology to remotely "hijack" the president's plane (not the one he was using, but the backup one), which leads me to think it was an inside job.

This technology exists, existed before the hijackings of 9/11, and should have been used by our government then to override the known hijacked planes to land them safely. 9/11 could have been avoided, if Cheney hadn't been playing his war-game, that day, I think.

If you have this technology (software and radio) you can hijack any modern commercial plane's autopilot and fly it around from anywhere else on the planet (given an Internet connection).

"They" are trying to make this president look like an idiot. "They" want the power to return to them. I think we know who "they" are.

Don't just take my word for it, go ask any airline pilot. You will get the answer (after he stops laughing).

Do you know what to do if the A/P is doing something you don't want it to do??? You disconnect it. Simple, done, story over.
