I would not be surprised to hear that Obama was on board the plane with his Arab leader buddies showing them the sights of New York.

This incident was the result of Air Force One being involved in the Official Photo Ops which many Air Squadrons and Aircraft take part in. I have Posters from quite a few MIL Aircraft which had their Photographs taken in such a manner. HOWEVER, how utterly irresponsible of those involved in this little maneuver, to not notify the Mayor of NYC, nor the Residents. This current Administration is most certainly on a real "Winning" Streak as of now.

They evacuated Hotels, and Office buildings all over Lower Manhattan and Midtown, and one individual even witnessed the Airplane headed towards his Office Building, and I dare say that he could very well have suffered a Heart Attack if he was any less fortunate, or anymore frightened.

Watch, the next time we have a Jumbo Jet playing in the air around Manhattan, everyone will simply say: "Oh, no worries, it is just Air Force One", then when it hits a building, everyone will shout: "OH NO, the POTUS just crashed!".

DEEZ....250K at 10,000 is about 2,500 pph, per engine X 4=10,000 pph!!

NOT 30 or 40 thousand!!!

AND, it's JP4 on the big jet...

Oh, and for everyone....it is NOT Air Force One unless the president is onboard.

What a disgustingly tacky thing for the Obama Administration to do. For A photo op?!?

I can only hope they had a VERY good secret and alternate reason for doing this.

Well maybe, considering the location, it was a victory lap, perhaps he was sending a message to a certain group.

Pretty [snip] stupid if you ask me. Of all the places in the world to fly a 747 just 1000 feet off the ground for a photo op, they choose lower Manhattan!!!

Not dumb at all, he was sending the message he wanted to send, that of conqueror.

Yep, I'm smart enough to realize the POTUS doesn't have much oversight or involvement in the day to day activities of the Air Force.

I would hope the president has some say in what his White House office holders do... I mean, that might lead one to believe he doesn't have much control over his own people. And the fact the "White House" is named as responsible in this means he should be paying more attention, if he is not to the matters at hand. People don't think, "OH, it must've been someone ELSE at the White House that made the decision, not the LEADER." They equate White House with presidency. A decision was made at the White House, the President's home, it's pretty much like coming from the President.

If that's true, he's damn lucky then, that some of the local yahoo's who in the NY/NJ metro area who are NOT trigger shy in the least didn't bring that thing tumbling down.

Like a well run business, one would like to think that they can have trust in their subordinates to make appropos decisions.

Being humans, not every one of them can.

I'm pretty sure the President would have been told if his "officials" were gonna do a couple of laps around NYC with a fighter, in a jet with his office's name on it... I cannot see him not having been informed in such a situation. If not, he should have issued an apology by now. This was more than a, "WHOOPS" situation. The White House's name was all over this, and he's pretty much the head guy there. But he's been strangely silent about the matter.

Again, I have a feeling if this was Bush's administration, there would be something close to a fire and pitchforks mob about to crash through the White House gates. However, this is your Messiah working, so it's all okay.

I have to respecfully disagree with this point.

In all sincerity, there are too many variables we don't know about to draw such a conclusion. It could have been an error in flight path or altitude where, any higher would have seemed innocuous and may not have necessarily warranted a complete Presidential White House task force for something as ridiculously simple as photo shooting.

So, it's no mystery that Obama is silent given that I'm sure he is in damage control mode at the moment for that little stunt.

The point is, it's not about what they "thought" was going to happen, it's what actually happened. There was a major screwup and someone has to answer for it. Given it was done by the White House, I think it would be appropriate for Obama to make a statement on it, or his press secretary, at least. However, nothing. And people content with whatever BS is released about the incident. I'm not trying to make this partisan - if it was under Bush's watch, I think he should make an apologetic statement, as well. Regardless of whose idea it was, someone should be held accountable and someone should make a public apology.

Lest, this is not happening.

They have apologized apparently.

The White House apologized Monday after one of Barack Obama's presidential planes flew alarmingly low over New York city, sending residents into a panic and triggering fears of a new 9/11.

"While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, it's clear that the mission created confusion and disruption," said Louis Caldera, director of the White House military office.

"I apologize and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused," he said in a statement, adding that he approved the mission over New York -- described by other officials as a photo opportunity -- last week.

"I take responsibility for that decision," he added.

The mea culpa could be seen as extraordinary, given the infrequency of public statements by the White House military office and the bluntness of the apology over the bungle.

Caldera described it as an "Air Force One flight over New York," although that designation is strictly used to describe the specific plane on which the US president is flying.

The White House said Obama was not on the flight.

I do.

Their explanation is pathetic at best, and the apology is not enough.

This guy says he will take responsibility, so let him take it. Fire him.

This was one of the most insensitive and idiotic moves I have ever seen done by the US government to it's people, and somebody has to be held accountable.

As many others have said, what would have happened to any PATRIOTIC US citizen who fired at this plane thinking they were defending their city against terrorists?

Interesting, how they can so openly LIE like that while apologizing.

I mean, it is rather obvious, the Mayor didn't know, many local authorities were as shocked by the event as the public were... In fact you should ask the NYC Mayor how he feels about being informed about this!

Got to agree with this all the way. First if this had been the bush white house there would have been hell to pay, with the MSM running nonstop coverage about the terror induced by the madman at the help, replete with film of evacuations and panic attacks and the aftermath of sleepless nights and frightened school children.

I wouldn't mind an investigation into how this came about. No way the messiah didn't sign off on this.

maybe he will be asked about it at the PRIME TIME PRESS CONFERENCE on wed.
