I wouldn't dare do that. Besides I don't take the webbot predictions as gospel, I do listen to them though. I also believe when you look at everything else going on, things that seemed impossible and outrageous, aren't so much anymore.

It can easily be avoided using filters, why would you want to base your predictions on pornographic material, that doesnt make sense. The "barometer" is keywords for the crawler, if you want to learn how to build your own search engine you can use Google Customized Search, the webbot is different though since it has to produce predictions/a report from its findings based on its algorithms and just not the search results like Google do (also using algos, very advanced of course).

I predict, women will still be taking their clothes off for cheap porn in September 2009 after Israel bombs Iran. Men will still be buying badly made porn in July 2010, after the stock market crashes, Vesuvius erupts and the greys start kidnapping retired porn actors for their dna. And most male porn stars will still look like Ron Jeremy. Why can't they hire guys that look like Hugh Jackman and Eric Bana? I'm tired of holding a paper bag up to the screen!

What ever happened to the original thread about this webbot and ALTA? Suddenly it was gone. Is ATS part of the conspiracy? I hope not...

The webbot reads like any other sort of divination. Vague generalities, questions, innuendos, hints, and wild inaccuracies. The earthquake it predicted turned out to be Madoff? Not hardly.

Look, on any given day, there is a good chance that something newsworthy will happen. Earthquakes, hurricanes, droughts, floods, wars, famines, plagues, etc., etc. all happen. If I got up here and predicted an earthquake for some particular date, people might be interested. But when that date came and there was no earthquake, most folks would figure I didn't know what I was talking about. And if I then said, "No, it was Madoff! *THAT* was the meaning of the earthquake!!", people would figure I wasn't taking my medicine.

If I randomly (and vaguely) claim there will be various disasters during fairly large segments of time - months - I am going to be right occasionally. There's going to be an earthquake in Autumn - some will die. Oh, and a pandemic and an asteroid hit and raptors. Probably something bad will happen in Autumn. Maybe it will be an explosion in an oil refinery. Oh, that's my earthquake.

Come on, people!

I'm not claiming that the basic idea behind the webbot is invalid. In fact, I like this idea a lot. However, what it produces now requires so much human interpretation that it has about the same reliability as Tarot or I Ching. Or the Sunday horoscope.

I think I'll perform an experiment, by reading Tarot cards and predicting what will happen during the rest of this year. I'll post the results on a Web page, and link to it. I predict that what I post will be vague and uncertain, a series of tenuous statements about various potential disasters and, perhaps, good news as well. I further predict that occasionally one of my claims will be right on the money, but that in general most will be complete mises. Nevertheless, if I do have a couple of hits, some will regard that as proof of my ability to foresee the future. One hit outweighs a whole lot of misses.

Interesting reading. Now don't get me wrong, I visit ATS regularly and do believe much of what is posted on this site, BUT some of this stuff is borderline goofy.
First off, if this flu kills all of us then everything else is kinda moot, right?

Second, global warming, unlike the internet, is just a construct of Al Gore to restrict just about everything.
Any doubts on that just look up fractuals, and remember your physics lessons.

Third, now this is where I do believe stuff, I think Obama (after turning this fine country into Barakistan) will really devalue the dollar. I'm buying gold as fast as I can.

Four. If I were an alien species, I'd avoid this place like tourists avoiding Somalia! Can you imagine aliens talking about where to go this summer?

It's a blast to read stuff like this, but again - it's just fear mongering. That Clif guy probably set a monetary goal, reached it with advertising revenue and subscribers, and then decided to close up shop.

Look, I'm not saying things aren't bad, they are. But this - I mean...who knows. I never believe stuff like this, and if you live in fear your whole life because of stuff like this, that's just downright pathetic.

the unbelivable predictions have to be taken as just that as unbelievable from my experience with their info. natural disaster stuff ok i'll buy some bad economy i'll buy that too. the bot might lead you in the right direction but they go too far.

So what you are saying is that they were completely wrong.

I mean, they said there would be an earthquake. There was no earthquake. You can't then back track and search the world for some "big event" and say, "Well due to the fact they must interpret the meaning of these words they might make mistakes".

They got it wrong, they got it wrong, they got it wrong. Any other conclusion is make-believe.

When the dollar collapses our troops will have problems


Just FYI my nephew is stranded and cannot move (he is on a Navy base on an Island) because the Navy does not have the money to move him. Not exactly the same thing but our boys are already experiencing problems due to the economy. Who ever heard of the Navy not having money to re station someone when there term was up in a particular area. Guys this is a bad bad bad sign. Don't yall agree?????

It was a warning sign last year when 14,000 Marines were reassigned from Okinawa to Guam where a base was closed for budget costs during the Clinton era. This is a real quandary since given the present course of international affairs and the Korea/Middle East situation, the only viable option to keep the military at a functional level is to formally reinstate the draft since they cannot meet recruitment goals. On the other hand, if they can't afford the troops now how are they going to pay a bigger army? You can't stimulate the economy by paying military complex industries with IOUs which is dangerously close to happening. The whole situation is paralleling the Soviet military after the 1991 collapse except that our troops are still getting paychecks. God help them if the situation gets worse, the first place those budget cuts will really hit is in health care and the VA/military healthcare system is already comparable to a third world country.
