113 quarantined after taking flight from Mexico with flu case

BEIJING, May 2 (Xinhua) -- At least 113 people, who were on the same Mexico City-Shanghai flight with a Mexican national later diagnosed with influenza A/H1N1 in Hong Kong, are under quarantine, Chinese health authorities said Saturday.

None of them have displayed any flu symptoms so far.

The Mexican, a 25-year-old male, arrived in Shanghai Thursday aboard flight Aeromexico 098, which carried 176 people and 13 crewmembers.

Strong prevention procdeures there, has any other country been this aggressive like this as far as containment procedures?

Thank you for posting that info. Are you able to give any more information either on here or privately? I am very concerned as one of my children has previously had a very rare form of pneumonia and almost died and so I think she would be at high risk of developing complications from this.

Can you give any advice on what to take/do if you are unfortunate enough to get this thing?

I think we are mostly all thinking the same thing... something is wrong. Just a week ago the WHO was preaching this to be horrible as was the rest of the world, we upgrade from a 3 to a 4 then a 4 to a 5 in a matter of about 5 days!!! Now all of the sudden it is slowly slipping away from mainstream media, not as many reports being made.

Some WHO officials and many other scientists are saying nothing to be feared from this, it is much weaker than the 1918 virus and still weaker than the common flu.... yet they are scrubbing seasonal flu vaccinations and making vaccinations for this flu... something is up, you don't change your opinion that fast. There was evidence for those upgrades and the fear they were going through, where did it all go?

this just makes me even more nervous, all flights banned in this day and age with the economic dificulties and its apparently just a "mild flu" - what the hell? either way OTT or something is up

Concerning indeed as NS is rather isolated...

Wonder where the "connect the dots" IS with the outbreak here?

Getting crazier by the hour indeed.

As far as I know, only China has taken these measures.
The Mexican tourist was staying at the Metropark Hotel in the Wanchai area. Police have cordoned off the hotel and shut down the nearby shops.
All 200 hotel guests and 100 staffmembers were quarantined. Guests who refused to stay in the hotel were taken to a quarantine unit at the Hong Kong/Chinese border. Those who showed symptoms of the flu were taken to a hospital. All those quarantined at the hotel are being given Tamiflu.

I have to figure out how to go about this so I don't expose my sources.

- I belong to a few private groups which have members that are very well placed in this type of situation. Think about the people around you who might have access to the real data:

Primary Sources
Disaster Medical Team members - not family doctors, clinic doctors, etc. They are being lied to about this and are also being told to spread disinfo as part of the standard model. (Keep the patient calm, do not induce panic, etc)

Certain, specific members of law enforcement. Not street cops or even watch commanders. Tactical commanders, federal draftee cops such as state troopers would be better.

Federal disaster team members. Not receptionists or low level techs. Research medical team members, specialists in immunology, virology, infectious disease, etc. FEMA, DHS, DOD

CDC / WHO logistics command, research Dr's, lab techs, administration

National Guard command staff, Regular military

Certain news media members who have first hand knowledge of obfuscation

Secondary sources:
First responders
ER medical staff
Local Law Enforcement
City, County and State Government

Tertiary Sources:
receptionists of above listed orgs, groups, teams
IT techs and other "supporting" staff
vendors and suppliers
various trustworthy witnesses party to meetings, press events, logistical events, support and supply situations.

I'm in contact with quite a few people we would consider primary and secondary sources based on the above lists. The data actually changes as you go from a source at one level to another with the most worrisome intel coming from the highest placed of the primary sources.

I've gone back and forth, just like many of you - wondering what the real deal is and thinking this is being over-hyped based on the media steadily backing off the initial reports. Unfortunately, this is ongoing evidence of a cover up.

Due to the various declared emergencies, the news media is not operating without oversight and control. Policies intended to prevent panic and civil disorder are part of the standard emergency plans which include tight control over new reporting. You can look up and find the emergency plans to some extent though quite a few of the federal ones are classified.

We are already under "martial law" with the chain of command preservation plan active. Key people are already moving to shelters and protected areas.

My family is isolated and will remain that way as long as necessary. I'll be finishing up remaining preparations and settling into a defensive posture. I'm not going to continue to post on this area after this. Take the advice or don't. I really don't want to scare people so there's no point in hammering on about it.

One thing that is sticking out like a sore thumb to me is that countrys that are in FAR worse shape than the good old US is taking much more drastic measures of this virus...And we all know how we as in the US like to down play everything to there citizens...

I would follow Russia's news..They have allways put there population first so to say,...But thats my opinion though..They know how to keep there army alive..

Under the pandemic prepardness guidelines all comities have a set of guidelines to adhere to. One of them is a weekly report due every seven days from level four up.
The first weekly report timeline ended on april 31st so you are going to start seeing alot of numbers jump and area's that haven't been reporting yet opened to the public eye's. So you can EXPECT the numbers to start to jump pretty fast over the next few days as the reports are gone through and posted to the data base.
It isn't really a sudden surge if you will. They are just finally getting the reports up and out to where they need to go. This will help certain states harder hit than other's to get the secondary medical site's set up and running. ( Will also help with the school closures in areas adjacent to other's that are experiencing an outbreak)

CDC: "we continue to ask the question of how severe this particular strain of H1N1 is and will evolve to be" in the U.S." #cnnswineflu

Interesting, here's a new page to keep an eye on: Pentagon is now posting a daily H1N1 flu report at fhp.osd.mil...
