Read an article this afternoon, one of hundreds I've been scanning, wish I still had it open about how "catastrophic" an event such as this would be to the already-troubled airline industry should they restrict travel.
They said the numbers were down last month, traditionally a strong month for air travel because of the economy but that if it were haulted now, several might welll go under.

More food for thought...I have a 20 course meal in front of me currently,LOL!

Here in my town, they just canceled all large assemblies and sporting events out of concern. Yeah Right!

I live in a town of 40,000 in Texas and supposedly no confirmed swine flu cases according to the news. However, I was in Celluar one today and a manager whose wife works as a nurse claimed that we have two. Now I understand the cancellations.

Ok I never thought of that before but that explains why Obama won't make air travel restrictions. Which is more important right now, our health or the economy? I understand that he is in a tight spot on this one but hey if we're half dead the economy won't matter to us....

I just saw on channel 5 news here in DFW area and they confirmed again that Mayfest and almost all outdoor events are cancelled. They also talked about the 26 confirmed cases here....but also said there are 13,000 samples still to test just from the state!!!! This was just on about 30 seconds ago!!!!

Edit: They also said they are asking to set up a field lab in Dallas.

Uh-oh, Field Lab? Is there a trailer involved with that, lol?

This is almost funny, that a lot of the stuff I read these past months that seemed to come from looneyville is now becoming reality.

Even if it was Ebola, I don't think I'd even care at this point. I'm done being scared and fear mongered.

I was in high school when 9/11 happened, obviously I was scared, now... I think I'm immune or something, w/e happens happens. Hope it turns out good, if not, I'm not going to be afraid of it.

To each his own though, I suppose.

Im not really sure if a trailer is involved or anything. Im thinkin that its problably going to be one of those big tents with a red cross on it or a minature setup in a hospital or something.

Re: Field labs. Noticed in numerous topics and media reports that it's alternately either CDC field lab or WHO field lab. Just an interesting tidbit.

First case in my city, Montreal has been confirmed as of today.

Quebec's Public Health Agency has confirmed the province's first case of swine flu. Director Dr. Alain Poirier said a man from the Montreal area who recently travelled to Mexico has contracted the strain of influenza virus currently circulating in several countries and believed to have originated in Mexico. The man is home now with a mild case of the flu. Poirier said public health officials are also tracking three other suspicious infections that may have been caused by the same virus, which has been identified as a new strain of a type A swine influenza virus of the subtype known as H1N1.

I definitely agree about the lying. Someone is lying and, to me, that is the most worrying part of this whole thing. They are either lying to make it seem worse than it really is, or they are lying to make it seem milder than it really is. Either way I don't like it one bit...

let's hear it for the redheads!

don't know if anyone provided a source for the utah suspected cases,
www.sltrib.com...
That's our governor declaring it's here in Utah. And yes some schools are closed. Funny, I always thought Utah would be pretty safe, now it's 30 miles away and 1000 miles closer since yesterday.

Still very odd...

We are waiting on WHO to go to level 6 Pandemic, we have deaths tapering off in Mexico, we have this H1N1 virus popping up all over the world, we have no deaths outside Mexico, we have majority recovering as if normal flu virus, we have panic in the media, we have WHO saying "Humanity is under threat"

So much conflicting info, we have breaking news when someone sneezes and is suspected of H1N1 flu, I am so confused it is funny.

I just told the wife to start preparing with emergency meds and food, etc, and got laughed right out of it...

...The average joe is not taking this seriously, I do not know whether I'm just being crazy and you lot on this board are just crazy paranoids like me??

Something is telling me to panic, is it the media? or this board?

We have a small number of deaths in Mexico confirmed cause is H1N1, and a couple of hundred cases worldwide.

Is this reason to panic??

I'm second guessing myself too.

But someone tell the WHO not to raise an alert level one number below all-hell-breaking-loose if we aren't supposed to worry.

Darlin'...I am taking everything I read and hear as "info" and simply processing and making choices from that.
I don't think anyone who posts, with the exception of a few attention ho's or trolls are trying to mis-inform,they are actually also concerend themselves or looking to know they're not alone.
I would be MUCH more scared to wake up tomorrow am and hear this:
"If your last name begins with the letter A-C,go to the red trailer on the right...D-F to the blue on the left..." never having even had any info or opinions available to me so I could even try and sort through it!
Best to you and we're all in this together so stay sharp and compassionate and we'll get through it.

4 outcomes to prepare for:

1. Real pandemic - Prepare to quarantine self with 10 days food etc.

2. Lvl 6 Martial Law / Potential Forced vaccinations / quarrantine to avoid

3. Govt's Over reacting - Will blow over in time / forgotten

4. Real Pandemic without high motality rate - turns out mild

Is there anything else? If not be prepared for any of above.
