I can confirm all cases in the United Kingdom are now classified, it is why we are waiting 24 - 48 hours.

Classified ... ? What is this Roswell ?!?

If countries start doing odd things, and they already have in some cases, people need to be made aware.Already they have news outlets removing stories.

Quarantine procedures.

It is rumoured that some of the cases in the UK do not involve citizens who travelled to Mexico.

The government liason officers have been in controll of the press in the uk from day 1... I work freelance for the nationals. Everything published has gone through government channels before ink goes to paper in the uk.

Can I suggest we wait for confirmation from the press conferences before presuming. We have been led to do that on many occasions over the last few days..

More local announcements

Like other school districts around the nation, officials at Albuquerque Public Schools have put together a contingency plan in the event the swine flu outbreak reaches Albuquerque.

On Wednesday, APS Superintendent Winston Brooks said the district has no plans now to close any schools and the district will take it’s cues from the state Department of Health.

In the event of an outbreak, sick students will be isolated with a mask in the school nurse’s office until parents and the health department arrive.

The district will also mobilize teams to decontaminate and disinfect any affected school with APS police coordinating efforts.

“We need to be very careful that we don’t overreact to this,” Brooks said. “We need to be careful, we need to be cautious, we need to be proactive but we cannot overreact.”

By week’s end, the district will distribute a box of protective masks to every school in the district. Those masks will also be available to charter schools.

In the meantime, schools officials are urging parents to keep sick children home.

I especially liked the part where they said “We need to be very careful that we don’t overreact to this,” yet plan on having police standing by to??? Taser students who get to close???

I have been following this situation from the beginning and I must say this was one of my biggest fears. There have already been a number of stories pulled or revised. Now we see cases being revised almost hourly, and they are starting to filter everything we will see even more than it already has been. I just hope that this isn't the beginning of a complete MSM blackout. I understand that they are trying to prevent a panic onset, but this is not the way to do it. We need to be informed so we know what precautions to take.

I would say more the time to start taking care of yourself and making sure you are ready to stay in, in the worst case isolating yourself from others,

Illinois

www.wbez.org

Health officials are confirming there are a number of probable cases of swine flu in Illinois.

The state Department of Public Health has sent at least one test sample to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – it came form a student at a north-side Chicago elementary school. A health department spokesman declined to give details about the other cases, except to say that it’s likely several of them are in the Chicago area.

That's comforting, likely in the Chicago area?, if they don't want to give details why add that? According to the article a news conference is scheduled at 1:30PM local so hopefully they can give a better assessment for the folks in Illinois.

As i read these posts i can hear my mother speaking to my Grandma on the phone about this flu issue. Such gems as:

"I knows its stupid!" and "Well people in Britain supposedly only have mild symptoms."

Yeah ok then mum, you carry on!

OK she did say "maybe there is stuff they're not telling us?"

Thats more like it!

I refuse to be freaked out by a flu that is mild in the UK and there are only 5 cases confirmed. Heck Im more concerned for my kids with the measles outbreak in wales, far more confirmed.

Relax people. Wait for confirmed info....decipher it, look beyond what is being said...and be positive. Making it level 5 dosnt affect the situation right now, the flu dosnt know we have changed the level ?

This really seems to be spreading fast within our school systems here in the USA.

Already sick here, and very much worried.

I warned on ATS last night that this was happening in Lousiana.

We literally have numerous suspected cases all over the state, but it is not being reported by the media.

Samples are being brought under armed escort by police to a central processing center in Baton Rouge.

I would be willing to bet this same scenario is being repeated across the nation.

Hmmm, their not really revealing any information any longer, it appears, just the standard defaults. concerning. Well if and when I see the WHO, raise the level to 5, I will start to really listen to my intuition.

I would hate to say it,but if you wait for your government to take care of you in a time of dire need, your already on the #ty end of the stick...

Start with the simple stuff like washing your hands when out, and getting extra tinned food in, If the spread really hits then at least you wont have to keep going out for food unless you have to,
