Although a lengthy read, I think this is important to post because it is the only comprehensive "official" reporting of hospitalized patients found anywhere...if nothing else, check out Table 1 and Table 2, these address underlying factors & chronic conditions from intake to the end of the testing period:

Needless to say that, again, the man is said to have those so famous "underlying conditions".

City Health Commissioner Bevan Baker said Thursday that the resident died from complications of the H1N1 virus, though the person also had underlying health problems that were not specified.

What is killing these people? Underlying condition or not, there has to be something that this flu is doing to them that is outside of the usual.

Privacy be damned. They don't need to release the names of the people. They need to release the cause of death of Mr or Ms or Child Anonymous.

It could perhaps’s be that their hearts are getting far to taxed by the infection’s that are a side effect of the virus. ? .
When I got sick some year’s ago and it wasn’t figured out till it was almost to late; it had gone toxic to the point of almost killing me. It took almost 4 years till my mitral valve stopped ticking all the time! The infection had damaged it and they had figured I was going to have mitral valve prolapse till the day I died. It did heal but I now have low blood pressure and a blood disorder (life long) has reared up again. It isn't always the infection that starts you down the road of illness that you need to worry about. It is what it damages along the way.

The immune system isn’t the only thing under fire when you get seriously ill and more times than not an infection can attach to and fester on the valves of the heart. Sometimes it can even sit in vital organ's to long and cause them to shut down under the pressure. Combine that with ANY form of "pre-existing condition" and you have a hail storm waiting to happen.

The Michigan woman who died seems to have had the virus, went in and had three tests at the hospital that came back negative.

The woman had asthma, and was on disability, and clearly was overweight.

Went back to the hospital after a week, then she got sick very fast.

Damage to lungs that was too much, and then her kidneys failed.

Good. So, one week or so later. Early tests were negative. Later test was positive. Damage to lungs after one week. Kidney damage.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - An elementary school student has died from the new H1N1 virus in California, the state's third death from the infection, health officials said on Thursday.

It would be nice to know if the secondary bacterial infection was caused by the H1N1 virus or a pre existing infection.

21 year old Utah man - clearly overweight, had sleep apnea.

Died of multiple organ failure brought on by flu.

39 year old Alberta woman. History of asthma and diabetes. Had trouble with breathing when entered the hospital.

I think we need to start looking at the local news sources when these deaths happen and keep an eye out for interviews of family members.

connecticut death was a woman over 60 with diabetes and other health issues.

The 4th victim in Illinois who was a 20 year old woman who died, appears to have been robustly healthy and the only complicating factor is that she was pregnant.

She was athletic, JROTC. This was her second child. Delivered ceasaran section at 27 weeks.

She went into the hospital with flu like symptoms on Friday, and was dead by Saturday noon.

Anyone noticing that this thing is killing an uncharacteristically larger number of adults working in the school system?

I think that the emergency services might need to re-examine their emergency procedures. Health care workers are subject to extra vaccinations, etc. Teachers and other adults working in the school or daycare systems might need to be re-evaluated.
