Well if they are following the "guidelines" those are only people who are currently being hospitalized at the moment.
The back logs are being scrapped for hospitalized cases to get them a better picture of how severe this thing is/can get in the hear future as far as I have been told. ( The no longer testing unless bad enough to be in hospital should be our first clue. It has been a week since they put it in place, yet we still have numbers sky rocketing.) They are NOT reporting people with "mild versions" that is a given.

As far as Japan goes they are very thrifty on making sure things DON'T spread at all due to their population size. It does not surprise me in the least that they are closing schools to try and keep it from spreading forward as badly as it has here. Their population is centered much more densely than most countries making the spread a far deadlier problem than in most countries and they know it. We should all be giving them a pat on the back for showing the rest of the world how to behave when there is a pandemic!

Good idea to get them before it hits your town....it hit Vancouver (where I am) very quickly, and I had planned to be so careful....got my masks before they sold out, then went out to get 2 weeks worth of supplies (in case it got bad)...figured I'd hit the Walmart early in the am to avoid the crowds...but I'm pretty sure I caught it from a lady who was coughing violently there (I kept trying to avoid her aisle, then accidentally wound up in the same aisle, tried to escape, trolley hit a display, and she rushed over to help me pick it up!). At least I had my food when I had to self isolate a few days later!

Battle with swine flu: 'I thought I would die'
Etobicoke man's 'mild' case of H1N1 landed him in intensive care unit after 12 days of mounting pain
May 16, 2009
www.healthzone.ca...

The symptoms started about three weeks ago with tightness in his chest and pain when he coughed.

Santini Gale had had bronchitis before and thought he might be coming down with it again. So he went to a walk-in clinic at Six Points Plaza in Etobicoke, where he says he was sent away with a seven-day supply of antibiotics.

But the 27-year-old's symptoms only worsened and 10 days later, on May 4, he went back to the clinic.

"The pain doubled. It crippled me. I knew I had to go back to the doctor because something wasn't right," he recalled yesterday.

~
Leach said the case was characterized as "mild" because the patient did not require ventilation to assist with breathing.

Gale, however, said from his perspective the illness he endured was anything but mild.

"That's crazy,'' he said of the hospital's characterization.

ATS is what woke me up to being prepared!! Found the site in March and that is when I got my eyes open to everything.

We may be eating rice and Beans when everything else runs out but, we have enough rice 20 lbs and beans 5 lbs to get us by for a long time. Got tons of flu meds vitamins water and so many other things it is crazy.

Kerosene lanters and probably 2 gallons of kerosene. I hope we never have to use this stuff.

Thanks again for all the great info everyone!! I just might make it through this if it continues to escalate!
