CORPUS CHRISTI — The Nueces County Medical Examiner ruled Friday that a 33-year-old man died on May 6 in part from the H1N1 flu virus. According to a Medical Examiner's ruling, Carlos Garnica, 33, of Corpus Christi died of viral pneumonia on May 6. The contributing factors in his death were hypothyroidism, hypertensive cardiomegaly, sleep apnea, morbid obesity and influenza A, sub-type H1N1. The H1N1 was determined from a Texas State Lab test that was reported Friday. Samples were sent to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
