I'm not sure about references to swine flu in the book, i read it over 15 years ago (I must dust off my copy and read it again)

The virus "Captain Trips" is a lab made Super Flu that infects and kills pretty damn quickly.

I watched the movie just recently and whilst everyone is catching the virus and getting quite sick, there is scene with two of the chracters in a garden, there's a radio on in the background, and the DJ announces....

"In other news, US government health officials claim there's nothing strange in thier decision to quarantine a small East Texas town, where a new strain of what's believed to be Swine Flu has left half the population in bed and the other half down with the sniffles"

Japan records first cases of swine flu

Japan's Kyodo news agency said three males — a high school teacher and two teenage students — have the H1N1 influenza virus, said Reuters. They had recently returned to Japan via Detroit after spending time in Canada, said the report.

The three are in hospital, while 47 others who were on the same flight have been taken to a facility near Tokyo's Narita airport.

I'm always trailing. It's alright - I'm use to it.
I can appreciate the zombie as well. : )

I wouldl like to repost something that I said earlier in these threads.
It's important that people remember back at least a couple of years (probably much longer ) and track what symptoms they and friends, family have had that are currently the same as this flu.

The itchy eyes - and allergy like symptoms, serious upper respiratory issues, headaches - cough - continuous sinus and ear infections - as well as stomach symptoms. These are not new - and they many times do not leave the body but just sort of return again and again... especially the respiratory issues. I have been tracking these symptoms in several pepole for nearly 2 years now. It's real enough. People are very sick -
but I am suspicious of it being what they say it is -

Staciexoxo's story is a lot of people stories - and I smell a different rat than the one we are being presented with...
Get well Stacie!

Back to voting.
I know I know - The Stand will win. It's cool
