I agree with you. Diseases have existed since day one. I think it is possible that the government knows something is imminent based on classified scientific data and that would explain the precautions they are taking like:

1) FEMA camps
2) FEMA Coffins
3) FEMA Trains
4) Assigning Army and Marines to NorthCom in violation of Posse Comitatus
5) What appears to be preparations for Martial Law.

FEMA is after all designed to respond to emergencies like pandemic.

OK, I think some of the nervousness pertains to the situation in regards to Iran. I swear I thought we were going to jump at it in August, 2005.

In October 2007 Putin pulled all Russian workers from the Bushehr NPP, and then showed up himself!

Since then an Israeli "practice exercise" with planes veered off course. Russian workers not pulled.

Starting day, 2008 Olympics, problems in Georgia and South Ossettia.

Russian bombers on alert and in flight 24/7. Probably loaded up.

Three(?) full US carrier groups in the Persian Gulf.

So between the drug violence and this flu, someone really doesn't want anyone to go to Mexico, now do they??

Just saw this as the lead story on the 6 o'clock news here in Toronto. I think we are getting it here so much because of the whole SARS thing a while back, Toronto is still very nervous when it comes to these things.

They're starting now are they? How kind of them!

Not unlike Sars in the severity of the symptoms, and we all know where that lovely thing came from!!!! If this starts to cause death, then its going to be time to take organize the end of the governments. And take them all out. That will be their response to their martial law, their pandemics. They go down and every single neocon they supported must be rounded up and investigated and sentenced for crimes against humanity as well.

You actually think this was done just by a group who call themselves neocons?

Mystiq, I would have thought by now you would understand this is not about conservatives, or Republicans.

I ask you this, if this was done by "conservatives" then why have they been implementing Socialist programs since the whole take over began?

I am a Republican, and i know most in power in the Republican party in the United States do not stand for what the Republic should be, and what the forefathers of this nation agreed on. The same can be said of other countries, including Canada, and England/Britain, as well as European countries.

I am a Republican because I know that most of the problems we have had would have been solved if we would have continued the path which the forefathers of this Republic agreed on.

The whole problem with the U.S. becoming what it is now, not to mention other countries, started right after Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, signed into law the Federal Reserve act, which is/was a Socialist program. Now after all the problems created by this UnConstitutional institution, they claim that in order to save the country they ahve to Nationalize more the whole system. implementing Socialist programs is what got us in this mess, and they claim that implementing more Socialist programs will solve the problems Socialism created.

This has nothing to do with Conservatives/Republicans, this has everything to do with the group of super rich which have infiltrated this country, the U.S. as well as others, with Socialist programs and are setting up the system so that more Socialist programs are implemented so they have total control.

Nice, I just came back from Cozumel Mexico like 3 weeks ago. Been feeling just fine though. I am so not ready for our own personal Captain Trips (see Stephen King's The Stand) right now.

Some cable network should show "The Stand", and also the English movie "V".

There are confirmed cases of the swine flu in the US (7).

I hope this is not the end.

This was just reported on the NBC Nightly News and was called a "serious concern" by health agencies

If you are not one for 1000+ page novels or like 4+ hour long movies (which refers to both versions of The Stand) then look for it's graphic novel version. It's very scary to think something like that could actually happen. Oh, and if you are squeamish....be careful with the graphic novel it has a few not so so nice pics in it. Hopefully this will all just "go away" and we are just scaring ourselves. I for one am not ready to have my 3 month old in danger O.o. But that is stupid to say because whether I'm ready or not, if it's supposed to happen, it will happen.

I think this could be some new biowarfare agent released to give Black Jack the advantage in the drug war.

Is this strain of flu related to the swine flu story in San Diego?
CDC: Swine flu seen in 2 California children

I found the whole swine flu story to be quite alarming and now this???
scary stuff.

Yes it’s likely the same “A new strain of influenza A (H1N1)”. Also 5 more cases have been reported. 2 in Texas and 3 in Southern California. The Spanish Flu was also a strain of influenza A (H1N1).

www.pediatricsupersite.com...

Anne Schuchat, MD, of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC, said none of the seven people had direct contact with pigs, making human-to-human transmission a likely source of infection.

The first two cases were reported Tuesday. Schuchat said CDC officials stepped up surveillance for this type of influenza in Texas because one of the initial cases – a 10-year-old boy – travelled to Dallas from California. However, no cases of this particular strain of swine influenza have been found in Dallas and the San Antonio cases appear unrelated.

Schuchat said three girls and four males, aged 9 to 54 years, have been affected. All patients presented with respiratory symptoms and all have since recovered from their illnesses.

CDC investigators are learning more about the genetic makeup of the illness. The researchers said that this type of influenza contains genetic material found in avian, human and swine influenza viruses found locally and in Europe and Asia. The virus is resistant to amantadine and rimantadine and susceptible to oseltamavir and zanamivir.

Since all cases occurred along the Mexican-U.S. border, health officials are working with the Mexican government.

I recomend plenty of sunlight, and over the top hygiene if this bug comes your way.

I would, however, like to request a good link to the markets (Equity?) if someone has one. Someone recommended to keep an eye on this?

Thanks

I do not understand why so many people here believe the media when it supports their view and on the next post the are saying how deceptive the media is. I am not addressing this to you specifically, so please do not take it as an insult because it is not intended as such. I just see these responses a lot here.

I think we have pretty much established that the MSM is not trustworthy.

Don't take this as an attempt to start a new conspiracy theory. I have some background in the medical world.

Any country, particularly the US, would benefit tremendously if there was an epidemic to which the elderly were most vulnerable. All people die eventually, and something like half their medical costs of a lifetime go to the last few months of their life.

That said, if something like a million people died enmasse instead of living their full expectancy into their 80s and 90s, the savings for the government, employers, the health system, and all around, who be enormous.

A company like GM is obligated to pay lifetime health costs for something like a million people right now, mostly pensioners and their wives. They would be saddened but not displeased if many of these people had their lives shortened by a decade or so.

I think most will get the gist of my reasoning.

Now if only those brilliant bioengineers can come up with something credible that is fatal primarily with people in their 70s and upward. Maybe they're working on it. Maybe their testing it right now.

Flu virus mutates in two ways - "gentic drift" and "genetic shift"

Genetic drift = flu virus is rather simple RNA virus. It lacks the "error
checking" capacity of more sophisicated DNA virus - when virus replicates
mistakes are made coding the amino acid sequences in the protein shell
which covers the virus genetic material. There are thousands of amino
acid sequences in the protein shell - as the amino acid sequences are
altered, act as camoflague against the immune system which uses them
to identify and attack the virus.

Genetic shift = several flu virus (animal/human) mix and swap genetic
material, the recombinant virus is a new virus and the immune system
lacks any defense against it. Such virus are especially virulent because of
this factor. Most of the major pandemics (1918 H1N1, 1957 H2N2, 1968
H2N3) have been caused by genetic shifts

This strain is variant of the H1N1 strain which caused the 1918-19 flu
pandemic that killed millions of people. Fotrunately is still suseptible to
anti viral drugs

I don't understand what you are saying. Was it something I said?

I made the comment about the horses because a previous poster was kind of linking it to the flu cases. I just simply provided a quote that referenced a comment from the team's captain.

Also, someone advised to keep an eye on the equity markets as this would be a key indicator of "The Big One". So I asked for a link to the markets.

I'm not offended by what you said, I just don't get it. Could you elaborate please?

Stock up on MMS. It's cheap, it works, it lasts a long time, it's easy to administer, etc..
