FBI workers accused of spying on dressing room

www.breitbart.com

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Two FBI workers are accused of using surveillance equipment to spy on teenage girls as they undressed and tried on prom gowns at a charity event at a West Virginia mall.
The FBI employees have been charged with conspiracy and committing criminal invasion of privacy. They were working in an FBI satellite control room at the mall when they positioned a camera on temporary changing rooms and zoomed in for at least 90 minutes on girls dressing for the Cinderella Project fashion show, Marion County Prosecutor Pat Wilson said Monday.

The FBI accused of watching young girls try on prom dresses. This is outrageous!

Another distressing point from the article is it mentions it was done from an " FBI satellite control room at the mall". What's an FBI satellite control room doing at a mall? I know most malls have video cameras and mall cops that watch them. But, is the FBI watching us shop now?!

Actually, this thread was posted eariler by a bit over an hour so this one should likely be the existing thread.

However...

I'm not sure it really makes any difference though as neither this thread or the other one on this topic seems to be generating much interest for some reason.

I'd still like to know why the FBI has a room in a mall.

That IS a darn good question.

I expect there could be some legitimate reason though, recruiting, an investigation, skulduggery?

Was there a video tape of this "surveillance"? If so, wouldn't that make these agents responsible for producing "child pornography" and therefore be branded sexual offenders the rest of their lives?

You need to be on the prosecution team!

It will be interesting to see if they even 'go there'.

You know that's the exact same thing i was wondering, what is an FBI satellite control room doing in a shopping mall???

And why are they only being charged with conspiracy and criminal invasion of privacy ? Seems to me that they should be being charged with way more than that, these were young girls, and there were many of them. If the average Joe blow would have been caught doing something like this they sure would've been charged with more than that, and i bet they would have been charged with something of a sexual nature !

I hope they lose their jobs, and i certainly hope they are hit with a seperate charge and sentence for every girl that they did that to !

Well exactly - my high school days are long past me. But back in my day I think the average age a girl might be going to a prom was anywhere from 14 to 18. The younger ones were obviously not part of the prom class but rather dates of some of the boys.

So yes, I'd think if an average person or even a "mall cop" did this they'd face some type of sex crime charge.

As far of if there is a tape, I'd think quite likely the FBI tapes most things when they do a surveillance so there may have been one made. Now if it still exists or if it was destroyed after many repeated viewings just to ensure that these young girls posed no threat to our great nation while they were changing clothes may be another matter.

All of the that aside, it also begs the question why did the FBI have a room in the mall, why were they doing surveillance in the first place and if this is common place then we are likely being spied upon far more than most may think.
