What just happened to the "ATS?" thread?

I was reading along and all of a sudden, it was gone! All I got was a screen with the 404 Error cartoon on it! Now I'm really suspicious! I was actually starting to side with Skeptic Overlord about it's contents when it suddenly vanished! Who's behind this dastardly deed? I even searched for it and although it came up, it simply refused to open!

To reiterate, someone suspected ATS was a conspiracy theory in itself. I got as far as reading that it was nothing new but I never got to read the whole thing before it disappeared. The OP was expecting to get banned if he was correct and although he wasn't banned (the conversation was allowed to proceed), the thread is gone.

P.S. - I always wondered what happened to John Lear!

Yeah - thats a bit odd.

I hope its just an error of some sort... this looks a tad bit on the SHADY side.

A thread live almost a hundred others was going down due to pointless bickering.

Yeah, I hope it's just a temporary "hiccup" in the system somewhere but I'm really disappointed here! Nothing frosts my cookies more than being interrupted when I'm reading!

i made 2 posts on that thread. i for one could care less if it is gone it is pointless and stupid not to mention that starting multi threads on the same topic will result in the thread being removed. there must be a hundred threads claiming the same exact thing. a very legit reason for it to be gone. although my posts were getting a few stars i will live with out it.


EDIT: i would expect this thread to be removed or moved aswell because it is not a General Conspiracy it is a board and what ever thread. oh no the evil ATS monster strikes again......

I hear ya - especially when the thread was doing fine... no real drama. Just a thread - not any heat - bickering or ignorance, simple discussion.

We cant have Admin just yanking things AT WILL - and still trust this as a reliable source. So this NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. It looks REALLY bad.

There are a ton of threads that have come through saying that over the years. Every few weeks ... ATS is a conspiracy or ATS is monitored by the gov't or ATS is a false flag .. etc etc etc.

Perhaps the mods just canned a thread in which the topic has been done to death?

Me too. I was typing a reply, taking my time as usual ant hit post reply and poof it was gone. I was disappointed that all my time and work was just wasted. I know the mods remove these from view after a short period but this interest people. I mean it's a conspiracy within a conspiracy site, it does not get any better than that. It does make you guys look a little, hmm.


As far as threads being done to death. There are many that go on and on.

How many threads have been started on the legitimacy of evolution? How many have insisted that "intelligent design" is science? Those sure haven't been removed! In fact, sometimes that's all that seems to be in that forum (the never-ending debate of evolution vs. creationism). Isn't that all the same topic?

BTW, lucky you for having had the chance to read everything because I didn't get a chance to solidify my opinion as I never got that far. I agree that duplicate threads should be removed but I'm ticked off at being interrupted and want to know what happened.

yes it does get better than that. much better. i can see you are a fairly new member, i am by nomeans an old timer but ive been here way longer that you its been done many many many many many times it old its tired get over it. do some seaches you will find more than you want to read about the same damn thing over and over go post there....

I read through that thread and one of the things that caught my eye right away is the poster admitted he has been banned from ATS in the past.
To tell the truth, I was surprised that thread lasted as long as it did with that open, almost flippant, admission. I am not surprised at all if that person and that post was removed for that reason and that reason alone.

That's my take anyway.

Thanks for asking me for advice and clearfication on something i have no control over. and your example is no good. those intelligent designe and evolution threads that there are so many of all pose diffrent questions and situations making them diffrent threads. these ATS is evil threads are all EXACTLY the same almost ver batum..

YET ANOTHER EDIT: i was just thinking there has to be a million of these threads as well. the WHAT HAPPENED TO SUCH AND SUCH THREAD THAT MAKES YOU LOOK BAD AND THEM RIGHT give it a break. that is why there is a search option that is why these threads get removed its been done its nothing new you are no genious for pointing it out. you wont become an ATS conspericy master for asking these questions. all you will get is those of us that love this site and are sick of newbees doing this tired thread, posting stuff like i am posting..

Whatever Gribble. Don't try to tell me what might be interesting to me. Oh I for got you are a superior one because you have been here way longer than me. Get a life. It sure is funny how this is your third or fourth reply to this subject in the last hour.

I was just going to ask if people thought that removing the thread entirely only fuels the fire. If I'd been banned from ATS before, I would be a real dummy to admit something like that (for fear of getting kicked off again). I'm sure people have been starting rumors about ATS as long as it's been around (that's part of the intrigue and certainly wouldn't hurt it's reputation). Whether it's "a conspiracy within a conspiracy" doesn't really matter in the long run. If it's part of a conspiracy, people will come just to try and pick it apart, and if it's not, people will come thinking that it's a good resource for other, more commonly discussed theories. Either way, it's a win-win situation for ATS.

I probably would have left the thread alone if it was up to me, simply because there are so many duplicates on here of other topics already. Why shut down the one about ATS being a conspiracy when there are others that wouldn't create as much suspicion if they were shut down? As I've heard over and over here, "If you don't like the thread, post somewhere else and don't read this one".

There is no conspiracy here, only someone with too much time and an outlandish sense of paranoia about the website....

If ATS was really cointelpro.. half of the threads that are on this board would not exist.

All I am saying is it is an interesting topic and it just thickens the plot when they are removed. There are too many things that are brought up over and over and over. I don't think it is out of line for us to discuss this. Personally I don't believe it is controlled by any agencies. Monitored, yes. I was typing this in my original reply. I think it would be ignorant of said agencies not to monitor because we are either all crazy or intelligent, either way that is worth monitoring.
