Energy secretary: Islands could disappear

www.breitbart.com

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu is warning that if they don't do something about climate change, "some island states will simply disappear."

Chu told reporters in Trinidad and Tobago at the Summit of the Americas on Saturday that Obama pushed leaders to work to stem rising temperatures.

Chu says that rising temperatures lead to more damaging hurricanes and rising oceans. Chu says those results are scary and could wipe out islands such as Trinidad and Tobago.

Hot on the heels of the EPA decision to begin regulation of 6 GHGs as harmful to humans, Chu want to spread the administration's paranoia, or is it greed, to other countries as well.

And what better way than to appear at a multi-nation summit of democracies and explain how socialism can keep island from sinking beneath the waves!

It's amazing to me that they continue to spout this idiocy when the newest reports are that Antarctic ice is GROWING, not shrinking.

It will continue as long as people are willing to do as they're told and to accept anything from the BHO camp simply because it came from them.

I dare you to show me a single post that criticizes AGW as calling for "status quo?"

AGW critics call for reason and science, not fearmongering and profiteering.

Use as many smiley's as you want, those are not argument, facts or even substance.

They are symbols of your inability to respond "on point."

AGW critics predicted months before this occurred, that Obama, Chu and Browner (a grown up will tell you who these are) would circumvent legislation and enact their AGW agenda through regulation.

Take some smileys with you next summer when you fill up your gas tank, pay your electric bill or buy groceries.

Where do you think the money to pay these additional burdens will come from? That "greedy oil companies" will just 'eat' the taxes?

Status quo? Sitting back quietly as junk science robs your pocketbook protects the status quo!

I ranch. I am an ecologist. I conserve and recycle. I've taught my kids to respect their environment and all life.

What have mommy and daddy taught you?

Obviously not critical thinking.

Deny ignorance.

I perceive your talking to me, so I will answer. If not, oops!
I'm not much of an antagonistic war monger so bear with me here.
I am not the best debater either but here I go:
The status quo is the big energy companies that want your money to continue to flow to them and not to new innovations or any form of self sufficient power. I know this first hand from installing my solar panels on my farm where I also recycle and preserve nature. Power companies are FORCED to cooperate!
That should tell you something! If you need clarification read that line again about whos status quo I'm talking about.
Do you realize how much they spend just in advertising?
All to keep us sucking on the same teat!
I cant believe you side with the greedy corporations that ran this country into the ground! Thanks peeps!
Screw innovation lets go to war, I know, more money and all that!

Yes science is very good, too bad its ignored for the most part!
Oh you like my smile? Thanks!

Thanks for noticing my inabilities, I'll do the honorable thing and just continue to ignore yours.
(because I have respect and humbleness, unlike some on here)
Please tell me more about your self righteous ways!
And thanks for noticing my critical thinking courtesy of my parents.
The same ones that taught me how to smell when a person is full of it.
I dont just believe anything I'm told either, bub.
Like why we have a clean air act anyway. I argue off point because it does no good otherwise. Thanks to not believing this reality yin time
your kids wont have a future, did you tell em that yet?

Edit to say, Thanks for your reply, debate and point of view!
Indeed, please deny ignorance! (for the little ones at least)
P.S., Maybe exxon bought you off for the gas on your ranch eh?

Oh my god, you're right! All critics of AGW are on the side of the oil and energy companies! Why didn't I see that before!

Just because people don't agree with AGW doesn't mean that they're on the side of Big Oil or energy companies. I personally was looking into a hybrid car, and other ways to help the environment, but I think AGW is the biggest fraud perpetrated on society in a LONG time. Someone can completely disagree with AGW, and think it's junk science and a load of crap, and STILL be against big energy companies. We need RESPONSIBLE science, not fear mongering and hatred.

Unwittingly they are, if they like modern life.
Thanks for the agreement in science, but
we didnt major in science here, we majored in greed
with a minor in kookyness!

If the science dont fit in, throw it out!
How many thousands of scientists agree the climate is changing?
Did I ever say it was strictly human caused?

I know none of it is real until an iceberg crashes through your house!

Then its wah, wah wah! Wheres fema?

I am so far against big energy that it isn't even funny. I use the energy companies because I have no choice, but I use them as sparingly as possible, and I try to find every little way around it as I can. And I am so dead against AGW that it isn't even funny. AGW is the biggest joke and trash science I've seen in awhile and it's time to put an end to it, and use responsible science to find a way to use alternate energy.

Well once again I am in agreement! Wow, huh!
Kudos to your outlook. Do we agree we have carbon levels
going off the charts and natural carbon "sinks" are shrinking?

Nevermind-Im not going to change anything, live it up now peeps.
As long as you can do it and look your kids in the eye.

Apart from the cooling dialogue at least the islands of the world are being heard (or at least spoken for).
There are many Pacific islands that many of us continental types have never even heard of and I personally feel they need some voice- probably not that Chu guy though. I'm waiting for him to go beyond talk and initiate some terrible policy (thanks kool-aid Democrats). Heck, I'd imagine most of he more obscured islands are hoping for a collapse of the financial system as they'll might fair better with a localized economy of productive agriculture and fishing not export-oriented slave labor.

If we're responsible for global warming, explain to me how it's happening on every planet in the solar system. Yes, carbon is rising, it always does when temperature rises, but AFTER temp rises. It doesn't CAUSE the rise. The problem is that we don't completely understand the carbon cycle. Climate change is happening, but there is evidence that it's not as bad as some would have us believe.

Good point! We have until roughly 2100 before the planet is
unihabitable anyway! We'll be dead! Kewl!
But thats all according to "conservative" supercomputer predictions and global weather modeling and monitoring. But thats junk science, so......
hi ho hi ho its off to work we go! sorry its late couldnt resist!
Im not going to get into a CO2(or carbon)debate with ya and I dont care how
nice it is on other planets right now.
We better just be concerned with living on this one.
(Unless you got a spaceship we can borrow!)

Again I did not say we are responsible for GW.
Are we playing a part in it at all? Well, what do you think?
As long as it is 1% that is something to learn about! Not close off.
Also who gives a blank whats causing it, lets learn how to deal with it!!!!

Hell, let's just screw figuring out what's causing global warming, and take your road. Blame the US! It's our fault! Why blame natural cycles, or sunspots, or any other natural causes, when we can blame the US?

Um, ya its tempting as we are a big part of it.
Compared to other countries we use 5 times the resources
so if we could just take some responsibility for anything,
it would be a relief. Its not our fault for voting them in, its
their fault. Its not our fault we live beyond our means and
cant read the fine print we are in debt with a mortgage crisis.
Its not our fault we let it get this bad in the first place.
Its not our fault we invaded the wrong country. Its not our
fault we condone torture, oops we did.
Im tired of "its not our fault"!
We vote them in and pay for them to screw us, how is that not
(at least partially for cryin out loud)our fault?
Who you gonna tell your kids to blame?
I know, Its just never our fault at all, we're perfect!

I still think we need to find ways to mitigate it is all, geez!
Once again, I dont care why its happening, can we fix it or not?
Or should we just party like its 1999 again! Sounds good to me!
Screw this trying to do the right thing crap. Good luck homosapiens!

I'm surprised you could shove all those words into my mouth. The US is far from perfect, but when the hell did everything become our fault? Are we the only energy wasters on the planet? Are we single handedly burning down the rain forests? Are we single handedly wiping out species all over the world? Damn, we're a busy country!

Sorry I posted this after you did:
I still think we need to find ways to deal with it is all I'm saying, geez!
Once again, I dont care why its happening, can we do anything about it or not?
Or should we just party like its 1999 again! Sounds good to me!
Screw this trying to do the right thing crap. Good luck homosapiens!
All empires fall and thats what we have here.
Thanks for your posts. Sorry for stuffing your mouth.
I think you misunderstand me but whatever gets you off tonight I guess.
No biggie, I could care less really, Im detached and self sufficient
from this greed and theft of a future you call normal life. Enjoy!
I know I do, its entertainment for me! Thanks again!

P.S. Yes we are busy with wars and so forth! Thats enough I'd say!
Why are we not going to war for EVERYBODY'S future and lead the way
for conservation, after all who could, or ever would?
See why I picked this name now? Call it self induced destruction!

The world is trying to kill itself, I swear!

Of course, your first response is to presume my motives and throw out names without support.

I am an independent producer selling to an independent gatherer. Oil companies and energy companies have no influence on me. Can you back your inuendo otherwise, or are you big enough to admit and withdraw it?

The status quo is the big energy companies that want your money to continue to flow to them and not to new innovations or any form of self sufficient power. I know this first hand from installing my solar panels on my farm where I also recycle and preserve nature. Power companies are FORCED to cooperate!
You only deal with ONE compnay, not "power compnies." Mine buys without being forced. Once again, admit you overstate and withdraw your "point." Mine in Indiana buys without being forced. That's 2 to 1, right? So, most power companies buy without being forced; and, ALL 3 buy from consumers! Withdraw your point.

Do you realize how much they spend just in advertising?
That affects their profit, not mine. I use solar, wind and my own gas. The local Cell co. pays me for a tower on my property. I make money FROM them. Game the system or be a payer/loser all your life.

I cant believe you side with the greedy corporations that ran this country into the ground!

Where in my threads or posts do I defend an energy company? "Greedy" is a pejorative meant to instill negative feelings. Do you want the most for your family at the least expense? You are greedy! Why don't you just get rid of everything, including income, job, property and possessions? Are you too GREEDY?

Screw innovation lets go to war, I know, more money and all that!

If a company or person cannot make more than they need to 'break even,' how can they invest in "innovation?" I know of no one, even energy cos. that don't see the need for conservation amd innovation. Do you think oil companies believe reserves are limitless or that they don't need to diversify? How are they to pay for it? (You are a marxist/communist, aren't you?)

Yes science is very good, too bad its ignored for the most part!
AGW ignores science. It runs on grants and subsidies. And taxes on consumers. THAT'S "greedy."

Deny ignorance.

Glib rejoinder and platitudes have never fixed anything or even moved an argument one iota closer to a resolution.
Look at your profile and posts.
Where have you contributed anything to any thread you've touched except smiley's and sarcasm?

Do you have an opinion to contribute? Can you form an original thought?

According to the Obama Administration's Energy Secretary, Americans should be paying "European" gasoline and diesel prices. Why is this right or wrong.

Steven Chu believes our electricity rates should jump 20 to 50% by region so that the economics of alternative energy come closer to "market." Why is thi correct for 2009, or ever?

How much are you willing to pay above what you pay now to subsidize AGW ideologies and "cures" that not only remain unproven, but have so far ADDED CO2 to the air and produced ZERO results?

How long are you willing to wait for proof of a technology that you are FORCED to pay for now, against your will?

Tell me how cap and trade will "cure" AGW.

You cannot respond to any of these without emoticons, can you?

Do you parents know you are using their computer?

I'm TELLING!

Deny ignorance.
