Yeah, that Paganini... two voices, duelling really keeps the tension on, doesn't it? Insane piece, that while it's a variation on a theme, one can't help feel the burning grit of it, ever-building, and then when you're about to !@#% scream, it gives you a momentary breath. Visceral.

I can certainly see why you, a mere partially-crazy person might not always be thrilled by such staccato antics.

Musical espresso.

cheers m'friend

I'm pretty thrilled - love that piece

this is the one I posted - somewhere - like I said, maybe even this thread. Who knows. Too lazy to go look right now :-)

That's the stuff! Yep, full-bird flap-like-a-duck madness! Weeeeeeeeeeeee! If I had even a fraction of that vast array of talent, I would play that piece amplified by 400 watts of spine-jarrin' power with a tad of distortion and some phase shifting.

THAT'D take care of the wild roosters for a while. I already know they don't care for Tool, Muse, AC-DC, GenX or badass Bach. Really, they exhibit hardly any appreciation for my finer efforts.

Officer: Mr. (my name), you really have to crank it down a tad. The bar down the way is complaining.

Me: Fine! Tell them not to play "Blind Love" any more!

LOL!

thank you

...badass Bach. Really, they exhibit hardly any appreciation for my finer efforts.

do tell - would love to know what you consider badass

would love to hear you play it - amplified by 400 watts of spine-jarrin' power with a tad of distortion and some phase shifting - way out there - where ever it is you are

where the hell are you anyway? is it a secret?

no matter - I have the whole picture in my head - the sun - the lizards - the wild roosters...

:-)

Badass Bach -- Tocatta and Fugue in D minor........... I've struggled for quite a while to be able to even play this on the guitar in a passable manner. I most like it distorted with a few distorted harmonics thrown in. I don't feel that Bach would be completely disapproving. There are others, -- mostly those with two clear voices -- such as Rondo-Gavotte from Violin Sonata No. 6, Polonaise, and Sarabande from the 1st French Suite....... others.

Nope, no secret. m'Bride and I live in the Cayman Islands on Cayman Brac, dinky little island. Much of the turf around our house is bush -- no trails, no roads, and people are pretty tolerant of my noisy moments, for the most part. The government bulldozed a walking road a coupla years ago, and in the process a chicken coop. This turned loose legion of chickens, and we're now on about the 7th generation of wild chickens. I don't want to bother them, as I may have to dine upon them if things go belly-up, but I make an effort to nudge the roosters away from the house.

I grew up with chickens, and don't much care for their racket. I provide water and some small measure of feed for them far away from the house. Sooooooooooooooo, Saturday afternoons is for making noise, and lots of it.

Well, that was TMI, wasn't it?

Okay, this guy absolutely shreds the Tocatta and Fugue in Dm....... WOW! Wish I had 1/4 the dexterity and talent.

Guess I'll go back to playing Green Day. lol

wondering how you guys art projects are going?

or if

cottage industry and all that - if things go belly up

and - because this is a GUITAR thread, I should probably mention that I'm just about to listen to your badass Bach post...

Ran across something you all might be interested in -- probably/possibly old hat to everyone else, but I found a site that has backing tracks for some of our favorite songs. I confess that I spend whole nights at a time wailing along with some olde faves.

Had a coughing fit tonight that lasted for five minutes as a result of trying to all hit the high notes in the bridge of The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. It was a very good coughing fit. I haven't attempted that whole song -- playing and singing at the same time -- in a very, very long time. I might do a local tour.

nice whaaa

yes - everything does seem to get slicker, polished and re-polished, more completely controlled...doesn't it? Packaged and marketed to be more palatable and appealing to more and more people

more perfect

focus groups are sucking the soul out of art - world over

they decide how our movies end, how our books are written - our songs are sung and our homes get decorated

how and what we should think

tiresome and disappointing

but - the cream still rises to the top - no matter what. We just need to look for it - then support it

(end of tiresome monologue)

:-)

thank you for showing me Kaki - will have to go find more now

Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels.

yeah - that helps - a lot

what a beauty

here, as long as I'm in a mood - this should just about cover it:

and I couldn't be more sorry. Amazing version with horrendous sound

P.P.S. my (almost sincere) apologies to Sony Music Entertainment

I know they are only doing their job - whatever that might be

protecting artists rights - and money - and whatnot

I just miss my Dylan videos

selfish - I know
